Gordon has been given a lead about a serial killer from a fellow officer but there’s more to the case than what he was told as this killer targets the loved ones of any detective who investigates his murders.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina #2
Written by Robert Aguierre-Sacasa
Art by Robert Hack
Lettering by Jack Morelli
Published by Archie Comics
Released April 15, 2015

Archie Comics continues to move its characters into the modern era with spooky and genuinely creep revamps of its most popular characters.

Riverdale teens are no longer coming up with plans to outsmart Mrs. Grundy or meet up at Pop's after school. Rather, they are outrunning zombies, destroying their undead parents and flirting with the idea of incest (Afterlife with Archie #1)

Following the living-impaired reboot of the red-headed teen heartthrob, the Archie catalog revamp continued with Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

Set in the '60s, the first issue explored the white-haired necromancer's tragic back story, including an evil warlock pops-turned-tree, cannibalistic aunties, insane mother, and a hot sidekick cousin.

The comic is clever. It is spooky. And it most importantly, it is well written.

In this second issue, the main antagonist makes her appearance in Sabrina's sunny life.

The Little Hayseed That Could – That Time Cannonball Punked Gladiator

History is full of tales of underdogs overcoming great odds.

David and Goliath.  The Miracle Mets of 1969.  The canned ham that somehow escaped from Rosie O’Donnell’s clutches.

And why?

Because people like a feel good story where the little guy wins against all expectations.

Sadly, these little piggies didn’t stand a chance…

Comic books, naturally, are no different, and while some battles featuring an unexpected winner stretch incredulity even by comic book standards—cough cough, Squirrel Girl beating frikkin’ Thanos—sometimes those odd wins are done so well you can’t help but cheer, “Rudy! Rudy! Rudy,” even if there’s no such character in the book.

Side note, try that sometime. On the subway. Just start chanting for Rudy. Some will undoubtedly alert the authorities or at the very least move their children away from you but I guarantee someone will join you.

Go on. Do it. I dare you.

And we all know only good things come from accepting dares…

One of the most lopsided comic book battles, at least on the surface, had to be the X-Men’s Cannonball and Gladiator of the Shi’ar Imperial Guard.

Netflix Is My Drug of Choice

By Elizabeth Weitz

Hello good readers of Forces of Geek, as you know (or maybe you don’t) I have been kind of sporadic in my postings lately. It’s not because I am fading away from my duties as Managing Editor or that my boss, Stefan Blitz, thinks I’m an asshole (which I’m fairly sure he does but is too kind to say to my face- thanks boss).

No, not at all, my absence can be explained fairly simply, I am battling a chronic illness which makes putting sentences together in a coherent way (without drooling like a Thorazined mental patient, thanks to the medication) difficult …and as a writer, that kind of sucks balls (and not in a good way).

And to be honest, I have been completely lost, like stuck on a lifeboat in the middle of the ocean lost, (in my mind I imagine a kind of Unbroken scenario…only without the Japanese prison camp). But on the horizon there is hope, a red, black and white mirage which beckons me with wide-open arms, whispering loud enough for the wind to bring it to my ears, “Come to me Elizabeth, for you can watch every episode of Psych uninterrupted and forget all your pain”.

And I do.

Netflix is saving my life.

Interview Conducted by Stefan Blitz

With the rise of digital distribution, comic genres long abandoned by the industry are finding new audiences with new work created by passionate writers and artists.  Romance comics, once a vital part of the comic industry, have long ceased regular publication.

Fortunately, Janelle Asselin bringing them back through her company Rosy Press, and her Kickstarter for Fresh Romance, a new monthly, digital comics anthology that has already surpassed it's goal and is a short way from reaching it's final stretch goal, giving it's participating creators a 30% pay bump.

A former editor at DC Comics, Disney Publishing Worldwide, and Sideshow Collectibles, Janelle was also the Senior Editor of ComicsAlliance.com and is now focused on bringing romance comics into the 21st century with Fresh Romance.

Janelle took some time to discuss the genre, the anthology and share her thoughts on women in comics (both as readers and creators).
