GUY GETS NABBED During A Bank Robbery After Believing His Payment to A Wizard Made Him Invisible

$

Sometimes these posts just seem to write themselves.

Okay, so an Iranian guy visits a Wizard and pays him five million rials (about $407.00) to make him invisible so that he can rob a bank undetected.

The Wizard gives him a set of spells TO TIE TO HIS ARM (!) and the guy leaves satisfied (how?why?Huh?)

Then guy then goes into a bank and proceeds to rip cash out of patron's hands for about a second before he gets the shit beaten out of him.

During his court appearance, the man said, and I quote, "I made a mistake. I understand now what a big trick was played on me".

Lesson: Go to a reputable Wizard next time.

It's that time of year as the networks host their upfronts, announcing their fall schedules and presenting previews of their new series.  This time, check out a few new NBC shows, as well as a heaping hunk of what Fox has to offer this fall.

Surviving Jack

Father knows best... well, sort of. SURVIVING JACK is a new single-camera comedy based on best-selling author Justin Halpern's autobiographical book, "I Suck at Girls." Set in 1990s Southern California, the ensemble series is about a man becoming a dad, as his son is becoming a man, in a time before "coming of age" was something you could Google.JACK DUNLEVY (Emmy Award nominee Christopher Meloni, "True Blood," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit"), ex-military and an oncologist, is a no-bull kind of guy. He sees little, if any, need to sugar-coat the truth. Up to this point, Jack's been the parent who's left for work early, come home late, eaten the big piece of chicken, yelled at his kids and gone to bed. But after years of deftly raising and running the family, his wife, JOANNE, is going back to law school, leaving Jack as a full-time parent for the very first time. Jack's teenage son, FRANKIE (Connor Buckley, "Deception"), is just starting his freshman year in high school. Lanky, quick-witted, self-deprecating and not entirely sure of himself, all Frankie wants to do is fly under the radar. But over the summer, he grew 10 inches, threw a no-hitter against a rival team and started to attract girls - all of which put him in some awkward situations - especially when the only base he's ever been to is on the field. Fortunately, no matter how embarrassing the situations Frankie gets himself into are, Jack is there to pick up the pieces and lead his son to manhood... with the least gentle hand possible. Although Jack may be unorthodox, unfiltered and sometimes even unkind in his approach, his intentions are always good. For better or for worse, he's Frankie's only resource now. Even more confusing to Jack than Frankie's growing pains are those of his daughter, RACHEL (Claudia Lee, "Hart of Dixie"), a gorgeous and super-smart 17-year-old high school junior. Up until now, Rachel's done everything right. No longer under the watchful eye of her mother, she's now a handful. Jack considers the mind of the teenage girl beyond his (or anyone's) comprehension - a fact which Rachel will take full advantage of. In addition to disciplining his own children, Jack must keep a watchful eye on Frankie's best friends: GEORGE (Kevin Hernandez, "Get the Gringo," "The Sitter"), an overly confident Mexican-American with a big vocabulary; and MIKEY (newcomer Tyler Foden), a tough kid from a broken home. Only time will tell if Jack's blunt and unpredictable parenting style will keep his kids out of trouble, or if Joanne will have to put down the law books and somehow step in to keep the family order. Until then, Jack's the dad the Dunlevy kids always wished they had - most of the time. For someone who is used to taking care of people with cancer, Jack's got this... right? SURVIVING JACK is produced by Doozer in association with Warner Bros. Television. Based on best-selling author Justin Halpern's book, "I Suck at Girls," the series is written by Halpern ("$#*! My Dad Says") and Patrick Schumacker ("$#*! My Dad Says"). The series is executive-produced by Emmy Award nominee Bill Lawrence ("Spin City," "Scrubs," "Clone High," "Cougar Town"), Halpern, Schumacker and Jeff Ingold. Victor Nelli ("Scrubs," "The Bernie Mac Show") directed the pilot.

HERE'S A RAP Song About Riding A Bike...I Have A Feeling I'm Going to Hear A Lot of This Song Playing In My Neighborhood This Summer

From the group that brought you Hot Cheetos and Takis (Y.N.RichKids)- yeah, that sounded weird to me too- comes their newest song My Bike. Which I am assuming is all about bikes...and probably riding them.

As an adult, I don't find the sound of children singing/rapping all that appealing but I figure I should get used to the song in order to prepare myself for the onslaught of kids in my neighborhood who will probably be screaming it come this summer.

Anyone got an aspirin?

Interview conducted by Lauren Berkley

Defiance has become SyFy's newest hit, with its combination of science fiction, special effects, and character-driven drama, which is not surprising, given it was created by Rockne S O'Bannon of Farscape fame.

But of all the different races and species on Defiance, some of the most intriguing characters are the “non-human” ones, such as the deadpan, no nonsense Doc Yewll, an Indogene.

I interviewed actress Trenna Keating – the woman behind the makeup – on what it's like to play a strong, shrewd, and educated female who speaks her mind and is not easily intimidated by anyone or anything.

The Henan province disaster was one of the darkest moments in 20th-century Chinese history – a humanitarian crisis first sparked by drought, then compounded by a combination of windstorms, government corruption, and a war with Japan.

In the midst of the devastation, an American journalist (Adrian Brody) searches for answers, and slowly comes to understand that there may be a greater connection between these tragedies and his political theories than he once thought.

Starring Brody, Zhang Guoli, and Tim Robbins, this tragic retelling of events is based on Liu Zhengyun's bestselling novel Remembering 1942. Director Feng Xiaogang follows up his blockbuster real-life disaster movie Aftershock with this unflinching portrayal of one of the darkest times in China's WWII history, resulting in a loss of at least three million people.
And we're giving away three copies!

Yankee Candles has always been the mainstay for the ladies who want nothing more in this life than to be surrounded by the smell of Buttercream Frosting, but now the purveyors of smells have decided to appeal to the dudes (who might enjoy taking a horrendously foul shit among the smell-alike scents of a football) by releasing a line of candles that will bring out his sensitive side.

Granted, if you are a man who has dated a Yankee Candle fan you have probably ended up owning the  Drakkar Noir-version called Midsummer's Night:

(and if you have, I apologize that you have had to smell the 80's for 30-odd years)

Design in Technology is a blog created for teachers who are trying to educate Junior High kids in stuff that will be far more useful later in life (like design...and technology, rather than say, Tweeting pics of themselves doing Duck-face poses).

And in this particular lesson, they have turned an old Monopoly game into a very cool Harry Potter-themed one with nothing more than some HP-related designs (which are available for free HERE), a color printer, Mod Podge and some patience.

After the break are some pics from the finished game as well as some links that will help you out if you choose to make one for yourself (which you should as it would be a great gift for any HP fan or a spectacular family project this summer when the wee ones are bored silly).

Games That Could Have Been

$

It takes a lot of work to get a game off the ground.

From initial idea through to completion, there are multiple aspects that could potentially go wrong so it's easy to understand why so many games are scrapped before they've ever seen the light of day.

Although as a fan, all we really care about is when we get play a new game and until that time, we spend our time geeking out and getting excited for its release.

Whether it's a new game or a sequel to an existing franchise, fans will argue with other fans about how a game they've never seen or played might be, forums go crazy with anticipation, things are built up, tiny snippets of information leaked from the developers are blown out of proportion leading to the over-hyping of a title. In all the misinformation, excitement and (impatient) waiting it's hard to distinguish actual facts.

Take Dead Space 4 for example, has it been cancelled? Is it just a rumour? The fact that three previous titles in the franchise have been well received, I hope the rumours of it's cancellation are exactly that. I've never played the Dead Space games other than the demo for the first because quite frankly, I'm not ashamed to admit that it scared the crap out of me!

Dead Space 3

This week I'm writing about the games I wish were never cancelled, of course this isn't definitive and I'm only mentioning those games I personally would love to see realised.

If you have a problem with my suggestions or think I've missed one then...tough. That's what the comments sections is for!

TRIPLE SHOT: SOLID STATE TANK GIRL #1, DOOMSDAY.1 #1 and DREAM MERCHANT #1

Three shots of comics are served down and neat for you today, burning up and investigating the insides of your body and soul!  We start off with the return of Tank Girl, John Bryne singes the Earth with a solar flare, and Nathan Edmondson delivers another story that branches out into a new fantasy genre, the mysteries of Dream Merchant.

SOLID STATE TANK GIRL #1 (of 4)
WRITER: Alan Martin
ART: Warwick J. Cadwell
Publication Date: May 15, 2013
Price: $3.99
Publisher: Titan Comics

Remember Tank Girl? I sorta do. There was a 1995 movie, right? With the guy from Body Count and SVU.

Do you remember rock and roll radio, The Clash, Love and Rockets? The creators crammed all of that into a dyke role model with post apocalyptic kangaroo sidekick that live in a tank in Australia.

Jamie Hewlett went on to form Gorillaz, and original creator Alan Martin sort of wandered the countryside (seriously) looking to uncover ancient mysteries.

Martin has since resurrected the character in 2007, and [Titan Books] has released his latest story, Solid State Tank Girl with art by Warwick Johnson-Cadwell.

We see familiar faces—Booga, Jet Girl and Tank Girl.

We’re in a radio repair shop, something likely useful I the ‘80s or in post apocalyptic times. Booga zaps himself on an old radio and Tank Girl is put to task to revive him.

How do they do it? Honey I Shrunk the Kids style.

There’s a delightful few pages of ball humor before they do the Osmosis Jones bit and float into the gross kangaroo insides.

To cram just one more Netflix classic in there, perhaps the reason Booga has fallen ill could be found in the plot of Three Men and a Baby.

A fun, punk rock read with a female leading cast.

A backup story pits Tank Girl against Dick Strangeballs!

Tank Girl is Dead. Long Live Tank Girl!

F*CKING SWEET! The World Rejoices As The Automatic Mini Donut Factory Becomes A Reality

$

When you get to be my age (which is around 40) you can no longer live off of hard cider, bacon and cans of frosting without your ass and lower belly dissolving into a gelatinous mass in protest. So, you have to give up everything you enjoy and instead, suck down things created in a Vitamix blender and pretend that pureed broccoli and apples satisfy you in the same way a trip to Denny's did.

But maybe there's a middle ground.

Maybe a person who dreams in fudge-flavoring can have their doughnut and eat it too without all the guilt associated with cholesterol readings and heart palpitations.

Maybe something like HAVING YOUR OWN MINI DOUGHNUT FACTORY THAT CAN MAKE 30 OF THEM IN 90 FUCKING SECONDS!

'Cause calories and fat grams don't count if it's mini-sized (this is a medical fact).

And with the Nostalgia Electrics MDF-200 Automatic Mini Donut Factory (a horrible name, but it makes doughnuts so I can forgive them) all you have to do is pour in some batter and the machine will do the forming, frying and draining for you.

Then you can frost those muthas up, add sugar and/or cinnamon or eat it plain (if you want to be good).

Thank you technology for giving me something to live for.

It is the return of Gus’s beloved pseudo-wifey!

In answer to my query last week and the week before, Rachel (Parminder Nagra) finally returns to the screen and to Gus’s life for a showing, only to beat a hasty retreat.

However, I am getting ahead of myself.

First the mystery of the week – The favorite radio show host of Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dule Hill) is murdered on air and the formerly laughing duo sober up to find out who committed this dastardly deed.

This week, it was all about the thin line between passion and obsession.

The crew is back and they are wonderful.

And oh my jeez. Benedict Cumberbatch. Heaven.

Now I’m not a Trekkie but I thought J. J. Abrams’ second installment of Star Trek was awesome.

It was accessible and exciting and while I may have missed a few references to the television series, I didn’t feel left out.

I sincerely enjoyed Into Darkness.

Don't Be A Glasshole People

I don't know how I feel about Google Glass yet, primarily because they sort of remind me of the camera glasses Tom Cruise wore in the first Mission Impossible flick and I have yet to figure out if I actually enjoyed that movie or not.

That being said, I can see how they would appeal to Hipsters and neighbor-shaming Suburbanites and it is to those very groups that I encourage to watch the video below and take a few notes on proper Google Glass behavior.

'Cause I would hate to have to loathe you all for another reason since that plate is already full of flimsy scarves, 1920's mustaches, artisanal jams, lawn care freak outs, huge fucking televisions and block parties meant to berate people's potato salad recipe.

Watch and learn.
