Back in the mid-eighties when Michael J. Fox was king of TV and movies, he paired up with the baddest female rocker on the planet, Joan Jett, for a little movie called Light of Day.
The premise of the movie was typical of the time, two siblings are in a rock band together called The BarBusters, Jett plays the single mom who dreams of a rock-n-roll life and has a semi-neglected kid (of course) and Fox plays her brother who pulls away from the band to take better care of his nephew. We all know what happens, Mama Jett learns the very valuable lesson that if you are a woman who pumps out a child sans a hubby, you are not allowed to go after your dreams because that makes you a selfish whore...yadda, yadda, yadda.
It's actually a pretty good movie (directed by Paul Schrader in his first PG-13 rated film) and I used to watch it everyday after school 'cause I had a hopeless girl crush on Joan Jett and wanted to be like her.
Unfortunately, I also liked El Debarge at that time so my coolness wasn't quite up to the Jett standard and thus I was only Jett-light (meaning I had a leather jacket but I wore it with a pastel pink skort).
But even if I'm not as hot as Jett, at least I have always had the title song from the movie playing in every version it was released in on my person at all times (because I'm that awesome).
So, after the break take a look at the music video (which has scenes from the movie) and rock hard. Or at least as hard as you feel comfortable doing.
