You might be asking yourself, "Why the hell would I want to make a batch of slime Elizabeth?" but the answer is pretty simple...because you grew up watching You Can't Do That On Television and wished with all your heart that someday, you too, could get smothered by some green love with Alasdair Gillis (that is if you were me back in 1982-87).
But I digress.
Making green slime is not only an interesting way to show kids all about chemical bonds breaking down and then restructuring themselves [Household Hacker], it is also a good way to excite them into wanting to know more about science (and if I'm correct in my assumption that being a parent means doing educational things with kids, then this is going to wow them).
While the video below may use phrases like "... mix 500ml of Polyvinyl Alcohol and 50ml of borax Solution together" which could scare you into thinking that you are somehow building a bomb of some sort, these chemicals are perfectly safe together and you can actually buy a kit called Be Amazing: Green Slime which comes with what you need and is only $7 each (so stock up).
And the end result will win you Awesome Parent points for letting your offspring cover themselves (or their siblings) in non-toxic grossness that cleans up easily.
So watch the video after the break and get ready to rock some science.
