NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) has spent the last 3 years photographing the sun every twelve seconds in 10 different wave lengths in order to allow us mere mortals a more close-up view of this Miasma of Incandescent Plasma (to quote They Might Be Giants).
What results is an amazing array of stunning solar flares, explosions, the comet Lovejoy and two partial eclipses.
Our closest star is simply amazing and yes, eventually, it will blow us the fuck up.
