In the near future, a collective of aliens known as the Votans (species: Castothan, Indogene, Irathient, Liberata, Sensoth, Gulanee, and Volge) arrive in Earth orbit seeking a new home. In 2023 the Votan ambassador to the UN is assassinated, a global Human-Votan conflict erupts: The Pale Wars. By 2030 an event known as “Arkfall” takes place wherein the orbiting ships are obliterated.
Votan technology rains down all over the planet including terra-forming tech that without any controls in place haphazardly changes the planet’s surface. Both widespread devastation and genetic mutation occurs making most of the planet inhospitable to Human and Votan alike.
The Pale Wars end and an armistice is declared. Remnant portions of civilized areas form safe havens.
Human and Votan live together in an uneasy truce realizing they need one another to survive what is ostensibly an alien world for all.
