According to Deadline, Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Delicatessen, The City of Lost Children, Amelie, A Very Long Engagement) is set to direct T.S. Spivet based on the 2009 novel The Selected Works of T.S. Spivet by Reif Larsen.
The big budget family film will be shot in 3D and will be the first English language film Jeunet has made since 1997's Alien: Resurrection... all of his other films have been made in his native country of France.
Supposedly, this project will be a return to the vibrant world of Amelie, Jeunet's 2001 hit film.
Jeunet will re-team with his longtime screenwriting collaborator Guillaume Laurant (Amelie, A Very Long Engagement, Micmacs) to adapt the story of 12-year-old cartographer T.S. Spivet who one day receives a call from The Smithsonian informing him he's won a prestigious prize.
Shooting is said to begin in the spring of 2012 in Canada with a projected release date in the second half of 2013, casting is currently taking place.
Jeunet's last film was 2009's Micmacs, two of his films (A Very Long Engagement and Delicatessen) are currently streaming on Netflix.
