KANSAS MAN LEADS A CAMPAIGN To Re-Name Hutchinson, Kansas Smallville In Honor of Superman

A young man named Christopher Weitrick is leading a campaign to re-name the town of Hutchinson, Kansas Smallville in hopes of bringing in tourists and energizing the place that he calls home.

He claims that the similarities between the two towns make it easy to believe that Superman could have called Hutchinson home had he been real.

The town has a Space museum called The Cosmosphere which has a rocket ship on the outside of it (Superman came to earth in a rocket), the town is also littered with a bunch of minerals underneath it (it's salt, not kryptonite) and they already have a Superman costume waiting in the wings...I'm sold!

Weintrick hopes that through his Facebook page and a comic he's drawing about Hutchinson/Smallville that both Warner Bros and DC will come on board and okay the town's new name.

I for one hope the new name is a go so that I can bookend it with a trip to Capt. Kirk's hometown of Riverside, IA.
