The Last of Sheila is the latest film to get the remake treatment with Beau Flynn set to head the project as a producer. The cult movie was written by Anthony Perkins and Stephen Sondheim, and New Line will be the studio behind the project.
Flynn, one of the producers of Journey 2: The Mysterious Island will use his FPC banner to produce the project. The original, directed by Herbert Ross, starred James Coburn, Raquel Welch, James Mason, Ian McShane, and Dyan Cannon.
The 1973 cult hit takes place completely on a yacht in the Mediterranean. The owner, a wealthy Hollywood producer invites his friends to join him on the anniversary of his wife's death. Throughout the film the writers include little games that slowly reveal some interesting secrets about the character.
At one point in the past Joel Silver was attached to produce the film at Warner Bros, but that has clearly changed. Now the search for a writer has started.
