Full Disclosure: I dropped out of college after a couple of years because all I wanted to do was to write and experience life on my terms.
And I have for the most part (finances not withstanding) which worked out great for me because the very thing that I am good at came not from English 101, but out of my love of reading and spending hours at my desk banging out essays, short stories and these very posts.
I learned by doing and perhaps that's what's wrong with the education system today. We are forgetting that learning involves critical and divergent thinking, not memorizing facts in order to pass a standardize test so that the school system can keep receiving money.
Maybe it's time to do things a bit differently.
But what do I know, I'm a college drop-out.
