It will be called The Casual Vacancy, and is about an idyllic English town called Pagford which, after the unexpected death of one of it's popular citizens, reveals the unrest that has been rising but well hidden so far, and it's about to surface.
Publisher Little, Brown elaborated, "Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…. Pagford is not what it first seems."
It is described as "darkly comic," and will be priced at $35, with a release date set for September 27.
