Get ready for Sin City 2. Development on the sequel has already started with the original writer and he director from the first film.
In a press release today, it was announced that Robert Rodriquez will be directing the follow-up to the Frank Miller story and has started casting, though no names have popped up yet. The sequel to the 2005 film will be called Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. While the wait has been long, Rodriquez says that he has "felt a duty to the fans to wait until we had something truly exceptional."
Written by Milller and William Monahan (The Departed). The story is based on an early arc from the graphic novel. Miller talked a bit about the project saying that “The first Sin City knocked out audiences who had never seen anything like it before. Robert Rodriguez and I are going to shake things up and deliver a ferocious film experience that is going to go even further than the first.“
The first film brought in over $160 million worldwide and was a step in a new direction for comic book movies using a good amount of green-screen and use of graphics and special effects that made it look very close to the stylized artwork from Miller's series
