The Absolute Best Movie-Themed Slots

$

Since they were invented, the popularity of slots or fruit machines has constantly been on the rise, sparking a variety of movie-themed slots that are pure fun to play. Slots are among the most popular games at both land and online casinos and there’s a good reason for it. They are addictive and attractive, and the promise of hitting a major jackpot keeps players very much entertained.

If you haven’t tried a slot, you know nothing about thrill. There are literally millions of slots you can try online. Simply googling ‘online slots’ will help you find the perfect slot for you, and you can pick from a variety of themes including sports, TV shows, and blockbuster movies.

There are only a few movies that haven’t been turned into a slot, but not all of them are good. The ones you can see on the list below, however, are quite popular among slot players and will definitely keep you interested, no matter if you’re playing for fun or real money.

Terminator 2

When it hit the big screen in 1991, Terminator 2 was every sci-fi fan’s dream. It had Arnold Schwarzenegger in probably the best role of his career and featured great action scenes and memorable lines (‘I’ll be back’) that will forever stay engraved in the minds of Terminator fans.

Thanks to the huge base of fans, it was only a matter of time before the movie turned into a video slot. The slot was developed by industry giants Microgaming and features 5 reels and 243 paylines which promise a lot of excitement as soon as you hit the spin button. Of course, the slot stays true to the theme of the movie, including video clips from it and everyone’s favourite villain – T-1000. If you loved the movie (and who didn’t, really?), you’re going to love this slot as well.

Man of Steel

Superman is one of the greatest American cultural icons. You can find the Man of Steel on shirts, lunch boxes, and many different products which shows how popular the DC character is. Of course, the gambling industry didn’t miss the chance to develop a Superman-themed slot, this time inspired by the 2013 hit movie Man of Steel.

Although critics and fans were divided on the movie, the slot didn’t suffer from the same problems. The 5-reeled slot with 50 paylines was developed by Playtech and features great graphics and gameplay. There’s Cavill’s Superman, Michael Shannon’s Zod, and other characters including Superman’s adoptive parents which make the slot pretty exciting. There are also special features reserved for those playing with real money that give you a nice chance of winning big.

Jurassic Park

Who could forget Steven Spielberg’s major dinosaur hit? Jurassic Park is one of the most successful Hollywood franchises, although not all the movies were as good as the one that started it all.

The Jurassic Park slot, however, is great. Based on the original movie, the slot features 5 reels and 243 ways to win which has become a trademark of Microgaming. There’s a free spins feature and popular imagery from the movie which will satisfy every fan of the franchise.

Honourable Mentions

If we made a full list of the best movie-themed slots, we’d be looking at 20 or more, which can be confusing. Besides the aforementioned 3 slots, we’re only going to mention a few worth playing as well.

From the ones we’ve tried, we can mention the popular NetEnt Planet of the Apes slot as well as the famous Gladiator slot, which still has a huge fanbase even though it’s fairly old. If you’d like to try something that’s a bit more fun, try Blueprint Gaming’s Ted slot, based on everyone’s favourite teddy bear.

‘Justice League #4’ (review)

Written by Scott Snyder
Illustrated by Jorge Jimenez
Published by DC Comics

“Listen to me Grodd! This is bigger than us! The Still Force is Universe ending stuff.”

“Heh. Oh, we’re counting on it. Aren’t we junior?”

“*Gurble*”

Justice League #4 hits the shelves this week, and with this latest issue of Scott Snyder’s run you should expect… more of the same.

Much more.

Not to say that we don’t learn anything.

We now know for example, just what Lex Luthor and the Joker are actually doing in the brainstems of Superman and Martian Manhunter. (Uh boy.)

And we now know (or at least we are told) that the ultraviolet energy of the invisible spectrum is far more powerful than the will of any one person chosen to wield a ring of the emotional spectrum. (Much less the common people of earth.)

But isn’t that the point of willpower though? Hm, don’t get me started.

We learn just what happens when the Still Force is fully unlocked. (More like locked down.)

And, we now know that Jorge Jiminez is making a stellar run of this series, with artwork on the page laid out like jewels for our appreciation.

We even discover, finally, just what lies at the heart of the Totality.

That one’s pretty good.

But why has it been sent to Earth at all? And why does it appear to have a particular animus against J’onn J’onnz specifically? What central role is J’onn destined to play in what is very possibly shaping up to be the end of the DC Universe? And how is it that Vandal Savage (apparently) came by all this knowledge? How is it, for that matter, that Luthor has it himself now?

The answers are out there. But not in this issue.

No, the purpose of this issue seems mostly to drive home the fact that the League is in waaay over their heads. Outgunned and outmaneuvered at every turn. One by one taken off the board by their greatest adversaries, as DC’s most villainous play their own parts in Luthor’s endgame, the entirety of which is still only hinted at.

Even if the scope of it has finally come into view.

To be sure, Snyder is upping the stakes.

It’s no longer the fate of our heroes, and the fate of the Earth, but the fate of the entire multiverse that hangs in the balance. With each of Luthor’s lieutenants being positioned to control a critical sphere of influence in what is looking more and more likely to be a new dawn of triumph for the dark soul of humanity, and the dark soul of the DC Universe entire.

The inevitability of that seems more and more intractable, and Snyder seems eager to drive the point home, both by refusing to cut his readers in on just what the hell is really going on, while simultaneously emphasizing yet again the fact that Luthor has been right about everything all along. Whatever that all is. Or what it’s leading to.

It’s honestly becoming a little bit tiresome.

Or anyway, tiring.

The feeling that we’re just along for the ride as a script we can’t really understand or fully perceive plays out to its inevitable conclusion. I suppose though that the uncertainty serves a purpose. Because usually by this point in a story arc we’d be getting indications of just how things might get better. Whereas this all seems to indicate that they just can’t.

Things are bad. They’re getting worse. And Luthor still holds all the cards. Now it’s the fate of the multiverse that lies within his grasp. A fate he’s fond of calling Doom.

There may very well be a victory for our heroes at the end of this.

And an answer to the mystery at the heart of Scott Snyder’s fascination with the dark soul of the multiverse. And maybe even a redemption for the very soul of humanity.

But if any of that’s to be forthcoming, my guess at this point, is that it lies on the other side of whatever is yet to come.

Well on the other side.

Get ready for a ride.

Next Up: More Doom. Much More.

‘New Challengers #3’ (review)

Written by Aaron Gillespie, Scott Snyder
Illustrated by V Ken Marion
Published by DC Comics

“I get real fidgety when I’m bored.”

Well, no chance of that, thankfully.

Source Wall, Source Wall, Source Wall.

Seems the broken Source Wall is at the heart of every mystery and developing crisis in the DCU these days.

No surprise then that this should be the case on Challengers Mountain, also.

Both were featured prominently in Scott Snyder’s Dark Metal event, and as the summer rolls along it’s becoming increasingly clear that Mr. Snyder’s reasons for that were apparently well-thought out from the beginning, with a clear eye to the long-term.

That fact comes into focus front and center in the latest issue of Snyder’s New Challengers, with revelations that tie everything we have been introduced to so far in this series to that existential damage at the far boundary of known DC reality. In rapid succession the critical links between our New Challengers, the old team, the Prof, and that giant, partial, rather Anti-Monitor-looking corpse currently sitting at the core of Challenger mountain, are all laid out for us.

Then it’s straight back into action for our team, from Challengers Mountain to the Land that Time Forgot. Travel by glowing mystical suitcase trunk is delightfully bizarre, but it gets the job done.

Thankfully, Andy Kubert’s professional comic artistry is a good match for all that, and more.

There’s a certain amount of rapid fire explication involved in all of this, a combination of surprising leaps of logic and blind faith on the part of our core team that’s become a hallmark of Snyder’s style. With storylines that are so intricate and complex, he has find some way to cram all the world-changing revelations he brings to bear into a handful of panels or lines of dialogue.

It says a lot about his talent that he does so while keeping the action moving, and even while managing to flesh out more character backstory, which continues to be one of the more enjoyable things about this series so far for me.

This time out it’s Krunch who gets the spotlight. Mr. Bunyan is a bruiser, and his story matches him well to the role of the hot-headed ginger of the current team, in seeming counterpart to the original team’s Red (Ryder?).

That quartet gets some air-time as well, and it’s gratifying to learn that it actually is the original team.

Where they’ve been, and why they’re showing up now, is an enjoyable sleight-of-hand that successfully ties us into two wholly different Challengers histories. Again, that explanation, such as we get, is a bit disorienting. But on the whole I’m a fan of Snyder having to work in a limited issue format. It means we get answers in something of a timely fashion. Though I’m glad they’ve given him more than four issues to work with this time around.

Two more issues to go, and something tells me that by the time we get to the end, we’ll have pieces to a larger puzzle unfolding throughout the rest of the DCU.

I have to say up till now I’ve been a little bit put off by how over-central DC’s heroes and the planet Earth seem to have become in a remarkable sequence of Snyder’s mega-prime universal developments and crises. It’s definitely beginning to look however, as if even in this, there has been a purpose to that bias all along.

If this issue is any indication, it may even turn out that Challenger’s Mountain is at the very center of everything that involves.

Next Issue: The Mystery of Anti-Prof!

A Statistical Breakdown of Every Pest-Based Character in Marvel Comics

Two Marvel Pests: The Scorpion Takes on Spider-Man

There are many reasons why comic books are popular and have been a part of pop culture since their inception. Some find the stories compelling. Others like to imagine themselves as the heroes. Some just appreciate the detail in the artwork. And yet the most common reason why comic books are so popular are the beloved characters themselves.

The writers and artists of graphic novels carefully craft these characters, both heroes and villains, to build their backstories and their persona. The worldbuilding of each comic book, especially when they fit into a larger comic book universe, is impressive and an example of the creativity and brilliance of the creators.

With that in mind, while each character is unique, there are trends when it comes to personalities and backstories.

One of the more common trends is having characters be based on insects or pests.

In Marvel Comics in particular, there are 144 characters that are based on pests (insects, arachnids, small mammals, etc.). Insight Pest Solutions, a pest control company, decided to analyze them all and they compiled their findings into some interesting insights.

Here is the breakdown of type of pest for all 144 characters: There are 44 based on reptiles, 43 on arachnids, 35 on insects, 13 on mammals, and 9 that fall outside of those.

According to the study, there are significantly more villains than heroes when it comes to pest-based characters — 89 to 53. There are two that fall in between.

Overall, the most common pest inspiration for heroes is a spider and the most common for villains is a snake. The snake does make sense for villains as they are a common evil character in many different cultures and throughout human history.

The success of Spider-Man could account for the high number of hero inspiration. Spiders, like snakes, are generally feared and have a negative societal perception.

When it comes to the characters superpowers, there are similarities as well. 73 of the 144 characters have super strength as their power, by far the most of any power. 15 possess the power of flight, 15 can wall climb, and 8 have the power of animal mind control. Some of those animals include rats, snakes, cockroaches, and beetles.

One of the other things the study analyzed was the on-screen characters.

With the consistent success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s only natural that some of these pest-based characters would star on the screen, such as Ant-Man and the Wasp. There are 11 characters who have made it into the movies.

While there are thousands of characters in Marvel Comics, pest-based characters have an important part in that universe.

Spider-Man has been one of the most popular superheroes for decades and Ant-Man (and now with the Wasp) has been hitting a stride at the box office.

Hopefully these types of characters will continue to play an important role in the future both in print and on film.

‘The Brave & The Bold: Batman & Wonder Woman #6’ (review)

Written and Illustrated by Liam Sharp
Published by DC Comics

Liam Sharp concludes his mini series with The Brave & The Bold: Batman & Wonder Woman #6.  Last month we gave a broad overview of the whole story, so if deciding if you want to read this, start there. Like all of the issues in this series, #6 is packed with lots on the page and is an interpretation of Celtic myths in much the same way Thor explores Asgard.

Batman has returned through a mystical causeway to Gotham from the realm of Tir Na Nog where Wonder Woman remains to maintain order and fight against Balor. Brother against brother, the silver armed king stands against the threat of Balor.

Meanwhile, back in Gotham, Alfred and the Batplane have subdued all of the spill-over demons and creatures from Tir Na Nog and Batman sets to integrate the exiles into our realm.

To be honest, this is a deep dive into Celtic lore that I am sure appeals to a lot of fantasy fans but might not be for me. We get the same dynamic of brother vs brother we’ve seen before and a large scale mystical war that our Justice Leaguers got themselves wrapped up into. Wonder Woman is able to stop the evil Balor with one punch after her friend Cerrunos has fallen.

The series is quite good, detailed and well researched. While touting that this is issue #6 of #6, the last page lays claim that this is the end of Book One.

Although I mostly enjoyed the ride, I was frequently lost and needed to refer to previous issues to remember character names and concepts. Though I suppose it’s a cognitive bias on my part knowing lots of Norse and Greek mythology but not being familiar with the Celtic stories.

I’m not sure I will dive into a Book Two, as I like my Batman a bit more cartoony. Diana of course fits seamlessly into this continuity, so I hope her fans enjoy this book for the rich historical references and her ability to help others solve their problems.

‘Batwoman #17’ (review)

Written by Marguerite Bennett
Illustrated by Fernando Blanco

Published by DC Comics

Last month wrapped up “The Fall of the House of Kane” storyline in Batwoman, and #17 kicks off “The Time of Your Life”.

Now that Dirty Dancing theme is stuck in my head. Dammit!

Rebuked by Batman for not surrendering her sister, Beth aka supervillian Alice, to Arkham for treatment, Kate Kane has taken her in. Batwoman responds to a news alert because a robot is attacking GCPD Headquarters where she is reunited with an old flame, Dectective Renee Montoya!

Montoya is working on a drug case, an interesting comic book concept of a drug that allows for you to see one second into the future.

Sure, one second doesn’t seem like a lot of time but what if you took a handful?

Actually the conceit is that bad guys will use that second to see if someone is going for a gun or an alarm. She is inclined to blame Black Mask or Calendar Man but the real villain is revealed at the end of the issue.

Marguerite Bennett continues to be a perfect fit for these red gauntlets, inserting both smart feminist dialogue and real situations like family taking care of a sick sister, as well as laying on the thick absurd Batman ’66 of it all.

Where Kate lacks a giant penny in this episode it is more than made up for in the scoping out of a high society ball in a scene taken right from a Bond movie. Her custom head to toe red suit with matching top and black tie and red bat domino mask is brilliant. Why let Bruce be the one who steps out all of the time? Montoya plays both the perfect date and dancing partner until…Clock King reveals himself with an army of automatons to kill Batwoman!

This chrono-caper is off to a great start with more art by Fernando Blanco.

Batwoman continues to find its way to the top of the stack!

‘Batman #51’ (review)

Written by Tom King
Illustrated by Lee Weeks
Published by DC Comics

Well, the wedding issue happened and there was a worldwide backlash. Not because of what happened in the issue. That was great.

It was because somebody supposedly “spoiled” the issue.

Here’s the thing: The issue was great and nobody can really spoil a good story.

Still, this is the first issue since that happened.

And how is it?

It’s damn good, kids. I love the direction Tom King is taking after such a landmark issue. Something happens to Bruce Wayne that I have never seen before. He gets selected for jury duty!

King has again taken something that is relatable to a lot of people, and includes it into the writing. It’s airy and fun and it’s a great concept to base a Batman story on.

So he goes into the court room and who is on trial? Mr. Freeze! In an ironic twist, Freeze pleads that the case should be dismissed as Batman was brutal and used unnecessary excessive force on him. So of course the media jumps on the bandwagon of Freeze’s claims and everything gets shot to hell.

All this and Dick Grayson is going around filling in for Batman!

It’s great that King uses this story for Bruce  to examine his own methods as Batman. King is daring too in the way he tells the story. He intercuts Bruce going into the courtroom with flashbacks of Batman beating the hell out of Mr. Freeze. It’s a dynamic and cool way to tell the story and it works incredibly well and in a way you wouldn’t expect.

The best scene is the book is when Commissioner Gordon takes the stand. It’s a one page scene that is so well done. His last line of the scene is “The Batman is not licensed.” I love that. It was beautiful. The last moment of the book is also priceless as well. I won’t spoil it.

The art by Lee Weeks is amazing. Weeks is one of the great unsung heroes in comics. His art is always dynamic and always a treat. His art works wonderfully here again re-teaming with King. I’m glad he’s still around. He also draws the best Mr. Freeze ever for my money.

This is the beginning of the second half of King’s Batman epic. If this is any indication of what is coming, it’s going to wind up a classic. Because as good as the first half was, the second half looks even better. And that’s something again that nobody can spoil.

Let’s just all sit back and enjoy the ride at this point.

‘The Wild Storm #15’ (review)

Published by DC Comics

This is a hell of a book that is just getting more and more interesting with each issue.

These alternative takes of the Wildstorm Universe are all damn intriguing. Warren Ellis has outdone himself writing this title. The results are in and it’s stunning.

The opening scene, is the best part of the book. We are treated to Henry Bendix being asked what he wants. He responds with my favorite line in the book which is “I want to wear Craven’s skin while I spray his family with nerve gas at Christmas.”

I laughed out loud at this. Ellis sure knows how to begin a book and keep me interested throughout.

This was just a beautiful beginning.

From there, we see Jack Hawksmoor in a police station. He is confused as to what he is doing there. He eventually realizes he may be a slave and that he may have been experimented on. It’s a brutal scene that ends in sheer horror. It’s hard to read.

Then, there is another hard scene that follows with John Lynch in a bar. He meets a guy named Phillip.

And their conversation takes up most of the issue. Its a great centerpiece and sets in motion what is going to happen for the rest of the series.

The art by Jon Davis-Hunt is superb yet again. His clean line work is second to none in the industry. Every page is a delight for sure. And every panel is something new. I love what he is doing.

Things are heating up in this book. Start from issue one and read up to this current issue. You won’t be able to put it down. I certainly have not be able to.

Written by Jonathan Rivera
Illustrated by Michael Avon Oeming
Published by DC Comics

This has been another weirdly unique Young Animal title that is coming to a close when the line closes.

That’s a real shame as these titles have been an absolute delight. I hope Jonathan Rivera keeps writing comics. He is extremely talented.

The title for this two-parter is “We’re Gonna Live Forever.”

Cave Carson, Chloe and Professor Bartow are captured at the beginning of this tale. They are in a space police car headed to be imprisoned. Cave notices outside the police car that there is a Star Adam concert happening that very night. Then, they are promptly rescued.

And ironically, it’s Star Adam that saves them!

Star Adam then takes them on a wild trip through time and the cosmos.

The story is fun for sure. The thing that impressed me the most are the emotions that are put in. When Cave first sees that it is Star Adam that has freed him, it’s emotional in a way I didn’t expect. The dialogue was beautifully written in that scene and I just loved it. Every scene is nicely written here as well as strongly structured.

The art by Oeming is tops. He is always great. The work has been amazing. It’s always expressive and fun. I will always follow his work wherever he goes. Each scene is carefully composed and full of pop. His artwork is always worth picking up a comic for.

In just one issue, this title will be going away. That’s really sad to me. I have loved this book from the very beginning. I hope this character continues in some form from this creative team. This has been memorable for sure.

Written by Tim Seeley
Illustrated by Freddie Williams II
Published by DC Comics

This issue starts out with a cool introduction of the Masters of the Universe! These characters as illustrated by Freddie Williams II are amazing to look at! He may be my favorite artist of one of my cherished childhood toy lines!

So we are introduced to the He-Man gang in the first few pages.

Then, one day, Batman and the Injustice gang shows up.

And then things get crazily nuts. I’m not sure that this comic book is necessary. But it does have some incidental pleasures.

The story goes like this: A robot thinks He-Man and his merry gang have been defeated. The robot takes control of Eternia.

But Prince Adam won’t have it and defeats the imposter!

I guess word eventually gets out because that’s when Batman and the gang show up.

It turns out that they want He-Man to help the Batman army to defeat the Superman army in the Injustice Universe! And then, off we go! We get crazy battles and even crazier dialogue. That’s the entire first issue right there.

I have pretty much written off Tim Seeley at this point. This book is fun yet incredibly goofy. The best part again is Williams on the art duties. His work makes me smile right along with the story making me cringe.
I took it in good fun. If you look at it like that, you may enjoy it a bit. I’ll read the rest of the series of course. But my brain will be shut off for the remainder of my time here for sure.

Written by Joshua Williamson
Illustrated by Riley Rossmo
Published by DC Comics

This series has been one hell of a crazy ride! Joshua Williamson has taken this Allan Quatermain type of character and has gone crazy with it. When you add on the art of Riley Rossmo, you can’t help but love it. This has been one hell of an enjoyable read with some passionate, wild art.

Antonio Luna (the Quartermain-like character) has gone after his ultimate goal.

That goal? To travel to the moon!

And so he travels there! He goes there with Valentine Richards! And he’s so happy about it!

He even says my favorite line of the entire series with “I’ve never been so erect!” It’s hilarious and well written!

He gets to the moon and he meets his final adversary!

The “confrontation” is not one of action. It’s one of emotion. That leads into the rest of the book. It also leads to Antonio’s final fate.

And that final fate hit me hard. It’s so super sweet I almost cried. The writing is so precise and perfect here.  It’s so beautiful in a way comic books rarely are. The final moments on the rocket ship between Luna and Valentine are some of the best moments in comic book history. Seriously, it’s that amazing.

What can I say about Riley Rossmo that I haven’t said before? I love this guy. His artwork is incredibly graphic and unique. You can tell with every picture he draws that he just loves it. That’s a guy I can really get behind. His artwork is stellar.

I’m sorry this book is ending. These six issues are memorable, however. I’ll be buying the trade when it comes out. Thumbs up.

DC Collectibles Announces New Statues and Action Figures Ahead of SDCC 2018

DC Collectibles, the award-winning line of collectibles from DC Entertainment, will make a huge splash at Comic-Con International: San Diego with exciting new statue and action figure reveals, headlined by a stunning statue series based on Warner Bros. Pictures’ highly anticipated Aquaman film, hitting theaters December 21, 2018. DC Collectibles will also expand its bestselling Batman: The Animated Series action figure line and add new artists to the company’s cutting-edge DC Artists Alley designer vinyl collection. New character additions are also planned for several of DC Collectibles’ most popular action figure and statue lines, including DC Bombshells, Batman: Black & White, DC Essentials and more.

Making waves just in time for the King of Atlantis’ big-screen debut, DC Collectibles will release three new statues based on the character appearances in the upcoming Aquaman film. Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, Amber Heard’s Mera and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Black Manta will be re-imagined with impeccable attention to detail as individual 12sculptures. The statues will come aboard store shelves beginning November 2018.

DC Collectibles will also add new characters to its fan-favorite Batman: The Animated Series (BTAS) action figure line and debut the company’s first-ever Batcycle, as seen in the award-winning TV series. Scaled for 6 action figures, the Batcycle measures 9.25 long and includes a variety of light-up features and two free-spinning wheels that enable the bike to turn. The double-sided display base allows fans to “park” the Batcycle in the Batcave or on the streets of Gotham City. The Batcyle set will also include one BTAS Batman action figure that features two interchangeable helmet heads, new articulation points that allow the character to “ride” the Batcycle and a poseable cape.

DC Collectibles will also release new individual BTAS action figures in 2019, including Two-Face, Gray Ghost, H.A.R.D.A.C. and Scarecrow. Each character will feature unique accessories based on their appearance in the animated series.

In addition to new Batman: The Animated Series action figures, DC Collectibles will also debut 6 action figures based on the Justice League animated series that aired from 2001 to 2004. The Justice League animated figures will be available exclusively for members of the DC Universe digital subscription service beginning in fall 2018.

“Our animated action figures are a staple of DC Collectibles, and we’re so excited to expand the line into the Justice League animated series and add more Batman: The Animated Series characters that fans have been asking for,” said Jim Fletcher, executive creative director of DC Collectibles at DC Entertainment. “As this line continues, we are constantly challenging ourselves to think of new ways to bring the animated series to life. We hope fans enjoy giving their figures a ride on the new Batcycle and recreating their favorite scenes from the show with the intricately detailed display base.”

Also in 2019, DC Collectibles will welcome two new popular artists—Joe Ledbetter and Chrissie Zullo— to the DC Artists Alley line. Both artists will bring their unique art style to the DC Universe, re-imagining some of DC’s most iconic characters as 7 designer vinyl figures. Ledbetter, known for his distinct bold lines and vibrant palette, will put his signature spin on Batman, Penguin, Catwoman and Robin. Zullo will debut her dreamy and whimsical transformations of Batgirl, Hawkgirl, Supergirl and Wonder Woman.

“I’m a huge Batman fan and to have the opportunity to work with DC Collectibles on a set of Batman characters is a huge deal in my world,” said Ledbetter. “I just love the idea of a bat in a Batman suit, a penguin as the Penguin, etc. There’s something there that’s quite funny and interesting and really excites me. I like to think that these animal Batman characters inhabit a parallel universe where Gotham City is entirely populated by anthropomorphic critters, including the Caped Crusader himself. I think the fun, enthusiasm and love of Batman, Robin, Penguin and Catwoman will shine through on these designer toys and I hope they find a special place on collector’s shelves.”

“Working on DC Artists Alley is a total dream come true,” said Zullo. “Not only do I get to work with the great people at DC Collectibles and an incredible sculptor, Irene Matar, but the process of seeing my drawings come to life in 3-D was so much fun and such a great collaborative experience. I knew I wanted my designs to be almost animated, full of life and able to highlight each character’s personality traits, while still keeping the designs playful and confident. I think everyone who worked on this project nailed it, and I can’t wait for fans to see them in person.”

Ledbetter and Zullo’s DC Artists Alley figures will follow the 2018 designer vinyls illustrated by Chris Uminga, HaiNaNu “Nooligan” Saulque and Sho Murase. Fans attending San Diego Comic-Con can pick up the convention exclusive of Uminga’s DC Artists Alley Batman figure in three different variant editions at the Entertainment Earth Booth #2343 or pre-order the figures online here.

On tap for 2019, DC Collectibles will release a new Bat-Family Multi-Part Statue featuring Batman, Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing and Red Hood. The statue set is designed by the award-winning DC Collectibles design team and includes the same versatile bases as the New Teen Titans Multi-Part Statue set that debuts in August 2018. Fans can display one or a few of their favorite Bat-Family characters independently, or for those wanting to own the whole set, the bases fit perfectly together to create one cohesive image. Batman is the first character to hit shelves in March 2019 and the remaining characters will be released throughout the year.

Additional 2019 releases include a Batman: Black & White Batman statue based on the acclaimed BATMAN: WHITE KNIGHT artwork by Sean Murphy, new DC Essentials action figures and new character additions to the DC Bombshells and DC Cover Girls statue lines.

‘Chained For Love’ (Fantasia 2018 review)

Produced by Daniel Patrick Carbone,

Written and Directed by Aaron Schimberg
Starring Jess Weixler, Adam Pearson,
Stephen Plunkett, Charlie Korsmo

Fantasia 2018

What is beauty?

Is it what society considers “beautiful”?

Or does beauty belong to us all?

Unfortunately for many, those not deemed “beautiful” or even just average in looks can never reach their full potential.

For those who are considered the opposite of “beautiful” are often subjected to abuse, taunts, a harder life and often times considered not even human.

Chained for Life tries to bring together the beautiful with the undesirable to question who is truly beautiful both inside and out.

To understand Chained for Life is to understand this is movie within a movie. Written and directed by Aaron Schimberg, Jess Weixler plays Mabel in a horror film that’s being filmed in a creepy abandoned hospital. In order for this actress to relate more to her character who is physically blind and blind to the atrocities surrounding her, she decides to live below her means.

In the movie within the movie, Max plays Mabel’s brother (Stephen Plunkett) and his nurse played by Sarah (Sari Lennick) who are violently experimenting on patients at the hospital. To add to the authenticity of the movie its Herr Director (Charlie Korsmo) cast “freaks” as the hospital patients, including Rosenthal (Adam Pearson), a man with a facial deformity to play Mabel’s love interest. Since Mabel allows herself to live as a “freak” is quickly bonds with Rosenthal and the two are instantly attracted to each other both on and off set.

While onset the “freaks” are treated with love and respect, however, once filming stops so does their positive treatment. The “normal” actors enjoy a life of easy with an actual hotel room to sleep in, while the “freaks” must stay at the abandoned hospital to sleep on cots. Made-up excuses are used to justify this separation like the lack of “handicap accessible rooms” and the “equipment needing to be protected”. However, the “freaks” never let their mistreatment get them down and as they find ways in the hospital to enjoy themselves, including making their own set of mini-movies.

As filming continues Herr Director becomes more evil, and tries to add to the shock value of his movie by treating the “freaks” as less than human and at times the movie becomes uncomfortable to watch. The disconnect between the “freaks” and those considered “beautiful” is astonishing as both parties accepts this grow level of mistreatment.

Chained for Life is hard to watch and rather confusing.

However, it’s a powerful movie highlighted the best and the worst of humanity. Beautifully filmed, there are moments with the “freaks” showing the audience how we’re all connected no matter how we look on the outside. Rosenthal is passionate and expressive. Longing to be a waiter, he just wants to be accepted by society, a simple dream that seem impossible. Despite his treatment, he never allows himself to become negative. It is with the love and support of Mabel that creates their bond, their feeling of equality that draws the audience into their storyline.

Blurring the lines between fantasy and reality, Chained for Life is not for everyone. However, the audience is able to feel the effort and heart each cast member poured into this film to help create a message that’s much-needed in today’s society: sensitivity.

It’s often hard to remember there’s more to a person than their looks and if society is able to look pass this, they’ll see they’ll see there’s a lot more commonality with each other than what is assumed.

Slater (Mario Lopez), Jessie Myrtle Spano (Elizabeth Berkley), Lisa Turtle (Lark Voorhies), and Samuel “Screech” Powers (Dustin Diamond) — were a cultural touchstone for a generation of teens, changing teen programming forever and launching the careers of its break-out stars.

The TV DVD archivists at Shout! Factory are hard at work on exclusive bonus features, and they will be announced at a future date.

From 1989 to 1993, for a generation of TV viewers, “Saved by the Bell” was the show that perfectly echoed their lives in middle school and high school. Originally titled “Good Morning, Miss Bliss” with Hayley Mills in the title role, the first thirteen episodes of the series featured Zack, Screech, Lisa and Mr. Belding, and was based at John F. Kennedy Junior High in Indianapolis. Following its cancellation, NBC retooled the show as “Saved by the Bell” and the rest is history…and math, and science, and… And, across 86 glorious episodes, audiences followed the memorable experiences and adventures of Zack and the gang.

And, following graduation, Zack, Kelly, Slater and Screech enrolled at California University where the successful franchise could matriculate with the prime-time sitcom, “Saved by the Bell: The College Years”.

The series finally wrapped with two feature-length, prime time TV movies, “Hawaiian Style”, which brought the Bayside bunch to the Big Island for a wacky Waikiki adventure and “Wedding in Las Vegas”, which saw the on-again, off-again lovebirds Zack and Kelly make their relationship official on a day the gang will never forget.

From JFK Junior High to Cal U, Miss Bliss to Mr. Belding, Malibu Sands to Hawaii, and dance contests to “dearly beloved”, the Saved by the Bell megaset immortalizes a landmark teen TV show that still resonates with its die-hard fans around the world. Fans, friends, jocks, and nerds –ask not for whom The Bell tolls … it tolls for thee!

‘CAM’ (Fantasia 2018 review)

Written by Isa Mazzei
Directed by Daniel Goldhaber
Starring Madeline Brewer, Patch Darragh,

Fantasia 2018

The internet; it’s a blessing and curse.

Offering endless freedom, a platform to express the true self, providing hours of fun and entertainment.

However, like all good things, it has a dark side. One the greatest fears the internet holds is the ability to steal unsuspected victims identities.

Bur for many of those in the Adult Entertainment industry the internet is not only a form of entertainment but it provides a living.

The days of porn shops have made way for “Cam Girls,” women who live stream themselves for the sexual entertainment for others. “Likes” and “followers” equal money to those in this industry and the more you have, the richer you become.

Lola (Madeline Brewer) is one of these girls in the sex industry who follows a very strict set of rules to avoid falling into the trappings of the dark side of the internet.

Armed with her boundaries, she keeps her performance work tightly sandboxed from her personal life, as it must be. However, one day, Alice finds herself unable to log into her account because someone is already on, using her profile. She hits the site as a guest and discovers that somehow, against all reason, she’s been replaced on her page with an exact duplicate of herself, inexplicably camming from her very home. A duplicate that knows personal things only she could know. And is extremely less guarded about any issues of privacy. Lola watches as her life begins to spiral causing her to break several of her rules for her to get her life back for once and for all.

CAM is everyone’s worst nightmare which questions what happens when the online personalities we shape take on their own lives. Under the daily stress of cracking the Top 50 of Camgirls, she develops a steady flow of followers and daily worshipers. However, life is hard for Lola as she has to think of new and creative ways to keep her audience attention without giving them what they really want: a live nude show which breaks one of her very strict rules. Constantly competing with the other girls on the website, she turns to shocking and violent sight-gags to keep her base happy.

Unfortunately, happiness is short-lived and the pressures of appeasing her fans and reaching to the top spot is anxiety-filled effort that the audience feels relentlessly.

Director Daniel Goldhaber turns CAM into a claustrophobic nightmare, making excellent usage of close tight spaces, neon lights and the constant paranoia of losing it all sides. Brewer as Lola is captivating, giving herself fully to the role. Playing essentially two roles as Alice, the sweet daughter and caring sister and Lola, her online persona, Brewer is able to carefully balance both lives with care and authenticity. Her emotions are raw and allows the audience to feel what it’s like to watch her life go spiraling out of control. Then there are the tender moments she shares with er family, where there’s a sort of easy, familiarity and heart she brings to the role.

However, there’s always the desperation of finding out what happened to her identity and who is the girl pretending to be her online. Her quietness is transformed into a woman who is self-assured, abrasive and authoritative.

Written by former sex worker, Issa Mazzei, CAM is a smart and authentic look into the sex industry. Never demeaning Lola’s profession, Mazzei helps the audience understand what it entail to be a camgirl (it’s not always about sex), while bringing a pulse-pounding life to the ways in which workers develop an enhanced awareness of the perception of others, an invaluable skill for performance – and self-preservation – that can take a significant toll. Her writing takes the audience on unexpected twists and turns as the stakes become higher. Never wasting a single page on mundane conversation, the story moves quickly without skipping a beat.

CAM is a stunningly gripping experience, that’s not your average horror movie. Filled with layers, each character (no matter their screen time) is richly developed and vibrant onscreen. While the ending is a tad muddled, the storytelling is rare for a horror movie and definitely not one to miss.
