If you were a fan of Terra Nova and cried a lot yesterday when I told you the show was cancelled, today you will happy to hear that Netflix could be picking up the dino drama.

THR reports that the streaming service has expressed some interest in the show when it was being shopped around the networks looking for a new broadcaster. With the recent news that Netflix is also in meeting with cable providers to create something new, and the fact that they are starting to push original scripted shows along with the revival of Arrested Development, this may be the show that pushes Netflix to create something new in the world of streaming entertainment.

On Monday, Fox announced that it was dropping the costly show which used around $10 million to $20 million just for the pilot alone. That's more than most indie films and many foreign films. 20th Century Fox decided to shop the show around and it looks like Netflix was the first to bite.

The show stars Jason O'Mara and Stephen Lang and the studio believes that it has international appeal that could help Netflix expand globally.  The discussions are still in the very early stages but Netflix has been looking for new shows and if it can get the show for a good price, it may be able to alter the budget and keep the dinosaurs out of the tar pits.

Terra Nova was averaging 7.5 million total viewers, which is not terrible, but it was too expensive to keep going especially since the two-hour finale only drew a 2.1 rating, matching its series low. As Fox Entertainment president Kevin Reilly said at the TCA's "[Terra Nova] was an exciting bet to take."

Now we get to see if Netflix will make the same bet
