Companions come and go on Doctor Who, and time is running out for the current companion Amy Pond.BBC's Twitter said today that executive producer Steven Moffat announced "the final days of the Ponds are coming during the next series." But don't worry Whovians, The Doctor will "meet a new friend."
Amy Pond and Rory have been companions for the latest doctor since he came on to the show two seasons ago. The current doctor played by Matt Smith will be staying on after the next season but Karen Gillan who plays Pond, and Arthur Darvill, who plays Rory will be moving on.
Whether they die or something else happens is unknown. Gillan did say that she wanted to be the first companion to die on screen. Personally I would be very sad to see that happen.
In another Tweet Moffat did say that he thinks River Song, the daughter of Amy and Rory, will be returning to the show.
