The popular video game Twisted Metal will be made into a feature film at Sony Pictures with Crank director Brian Taylor set to write and helm.

According to Deadline, Taylor will be working on a live action adaptation of the game in a deal that was seven figures wide. The co-director of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance will be working again with producers Avi and Ari Arad.

In the game a man named Calypso organizes an underground event that has the contestants fight to the death in highly modified and weaponized cars. With missiles, machine guns, mines and more, Calypso's reasoning behind the event is to see what people will do and examine the human condition. With the sole survivor getting any wish they desire, what are the lengths that people will go to?

Signature players in the game like Sweet Tooth and Doll Face are said to be making appearances, but other than that it is unknown what the story will be centered around. The latest version of the game was just released yesterday for the Playstation 3.

Taylor will be doing this project alone, unlike his past work on the Crank movies where he has teamed up with Mark Neveldine. The two have recently been talking about making a third Crank movie in 3D.
