Dan Aykroyd has been giving out tidbits about the third movie in the Ghostbusters franchise. Now he's saying that Peter Venkman could be played by someone completely new.

Talking at Empire for a webchat, the longtime actor said just a few things about the film that could be. He mentioned different actors returning and what would happen if they didn't want to come back. He was also very specific about how good the script will have to be for it to be made.

Rick Moranis is known to be a bit reclusive and hasn't done an acting role since 1997. Aykroyd said about the actor that "If we can get the script to Ghostbusters 3 right, then it would definitely have Moranis as a major component. None of us would want to do the movie without having him as a participant."

He also talked about the rumor that Bill Murray shredded a copy of the script and sent it back to him with an attached note saying "No-one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts."

"Bill Murray is not capable of such behaviour. This is simply something that would not be in his nature. We have a deep, private personal relationship that transcends business. We communicate frequently and his position on the involvement in Ghostbusters 3 has been made clear and I respect that. But Bill has too much positive estimation of my writing skills to shred the work."

Again talking about Murray he mentioned that the character of Peter Venkman could be played by a different actor, similar to Jack Ryan. "The script must be perfect. We cannot release a film that is any less than that. We have more work to do."

So that's the latest news on the project. Would you watch another Ghostbusters, or does it just need to be forgotten?
