Alan Ball is known for his creation True Blood, and now he's getting another show called Banshee over at Cinemax.
Deadline reports that Ball has made a deal with the HBO sister network to create a 10 episode series of action drama. The project is being written by Jonathan Tropper and David Schickler with Ball executive producing.
Greg Yaitanes, the Emmy-winning director of House is set to helm the first episode, but his involvement afterwards is unknown. The show revolves around a thief and ex-convict who takes the identity of the sheriff on Banshee, PA. He acts out justice in his own special way even as he is being pursued by the gangsters that he betrayed many years earlier.
The project started at HBO and was first described as "Walking Tall meets History of Violence." The show was thrown on the fast track and will start shooting in Charlotte, North Carolina this spring with hopes for a 2013 premiere.
