She proves herself as a talented actress once more in the film Trance, portraying the tough and seductive Elizabeth. Many other actresses have taken on the difficult task of finding the perfect balance between sexy and strong and taken on the role of portraying a powerful and independent woman. Here, we take a look at these leading ladies and some of the powerful roles they have played.
Halle Berry - CatwomanThere’s not much that has more sex appeal than a woman in a leather cat suit, especially if that woman is someone like Halle Berry! In Catwoman, she portrays a woman who is originally shy, but has a much more powerful side to her. Both of Berry’s personas in the film, Patience and Catwoman, draw the attention of men. After coming back to life with the reflexes of a cat, Catwoman fights with a powerful determination to find out who killed her.
Jennifer Lawrence- The Hunger GamesThe Hunger Games introduced us to a brave young girl by the name of Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence. Katniss takes her kid sister’s place in a battle to the death, prepared to face trained killers and a course filled with traps. She unexpectedly gains the attention of all twelve districts of Panem and the love of two handsome young men. Her strength, unique beauty, and skill with a bow and arrow make Katniss a powerful player in the game.
Rosario Dawson- TranceRosario Dawson plays the attractive hypnotist Elizabeth in Trance. Throughout the film we see Elizabeth’s ability to lure in men, gaining the affection of both Franck and Simon. But this chick is independent and has a plan of her own. Her cunning personality makes Elizabeth a standout among leading ladies in film.
Keira Knightley- Pirates of the CaribbeanKeira Knightley fit perfectly into the role of Elizabeth Swann in the Pirates of the Caribbean films. She may have been raised to act like a lady and maintain a calm and poised demeanor, but Elizabeth knows how to hold her own against pirates. She has the perfect balance of bravery and beauty.
Cameron Diaz- Charlie’s AngelsAll three of Charlie’s Angels have a certain sex appeal about them. But, Cameron Diaz as Natalie Cook seems to stand out, even beside the beautiful Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu. Natalie may come across as goofy and innocent, but she definitely knows how to take down some criminals, often in high heels. Her high kick in Charlie’s Angels had the jaws of men across the world dropping to the floor.
Angelina Jolie- Mr. and Mrs. SmithYou can’t have a list of strong and sexy female characters in film without including at least one of Angelina Jolie’s roles. She has taken on many different characters who have kick ass personalities, to say the least. One of her most memorable roles was Jane Smith in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. As an assassin, Jane certainly knew how to bring on the sex appeal while yielding pretty much any type of weapon.
