Had I known that it was feasible for a white person to rap about topics like evolution or the Canterbury Tales (like Canadian rap artist Baba Brinkman) then perhaps I would have found myself in a very different career. But alas, I grew up thinking that rap was the poetry of the streets and since I happened to grow up in probably one of the whitest enclaves in Oregon, the only issue I ever had with authority was my epic truancy...and you pretty much can't write a gangsta rap about skipping to school to watch cable (I know, I tried).
But this particular ode Charles Darwin is a bit different than say the Fear of a Black Planet album by Public Enemy, since it was commissioned by micro-biologist Mark Pallen and fucking Peer-Reviewed (yeah, I know, crazy right?)
So, if you happen to like intense intellectual rap or, just like science, take a listen and then ponder how awesome it is to live in a world where shit like this exists.
I know I do.
Video after the break.
