I don’t remember the topic, exactly, but I do remember telling her something that probably fell into the category of “inappropriate to tell your mother.”
When she asked me why I was discussing this with her (she couldn’t tell me not to do whatever it was I was horrifying her with since I was an adult), I told her I would never engage in anything I wouldn’t be okay telling my mother about. I remember her blinking for a beat and sighing before saying, “I think it’s time for us to be less close.”
As children grow into adults, it’s hard to determine sometimes the boundaries that should be set between them and their parents.
This is a real problem for Norman with his seriously oversharing mother.
And the information bomb she drops on him in this episode is a real doozy.
