Syfy has a new original show coming up called Defiance and Grant Bowler is set to be the lead.
According to Deadline, Bowler will star in the live-action drama that comes from Farscape creator Rockne S. O'Bannon who wrote and executive produces the series.
The story of Defiance is centered on a future Earth in which humans and aliens live together on a planet changed by decades of war and altered by alien terraforming machines.
Bowler stars as Jeb Nolan a policeman and former marine who lost his wife and child in the war. Instead of bringing aliens to the West like last years Cowboys & Aliens, this story brings the Western style to an alien world.
Syfy’s president of original content Mark Stern said “Grant’s charismatic charm and his depth as an actor make him the perfect anchor as we build the ensemble for this sweeping adventure series.”
Bowler is likely best known for his work on Ugly Betty, and as a werewolf on True Blood. He also played Captain Gault on Lost.
