
According to Deadline, the studio has spent somewhere around $2 million just to get the rights to the book and have author Seth Grahame Smith adapt it. Harry Potter producer David Heyman is on board along with David Katzenberg.
The story about little baby Jesus is actually more centered around the Three Wise Men of the Nativity. WB production president Greg Silverman said that the novel was "an incredibly innovative take on a timeless story."
Warner Bros is also working on the Moses epic Gods and Kings set to be directed by Steven Spielberg. They also have the story of Jewish warrior Judah Maccabee, with Joe Eszterhas and Mel Gibson writing with Gibson possibly directing.
Grahame-Smith's previous novels are also being developed. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is set at 20th Century Fox with Timur Bekmambetov directing. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is having difficulties finding a lead actress and has gone through names like Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Olivia Wilde, Scarlett Johansson, Mia Wasikowska, and Emma Stone.
