Not very long ago, a person was allowed to watch a television show/movie without choosing which character to side with, but now, if you don't align yourself with someone, well, you're not truly a fan. And the television show Downton Abbey has created a rabid fan-base of American Anglophiles that are ready to bust a N00b's cherry if you accidentally let it slip that you aren't really all that sure which particular character makes your gut tremble.
So, why not play it safe and fan girl/boy it up to Maggie Smith's Dowager Countess of Grantham, Violet Crawley, whose cutting bon mots make her a reasonable character to idolize.
