MTV's Josh Horowitz talked to Abrams recently and although he wasn't able to get anything really amazing out of him, Abrams did give some details about how the movie will be filmed and even the possibility of a sequel to his monster movie Cloverfield.
While Abrams thinks that it's too early to be talking about Star Trek, he does believe that Damon Lindelof, Bob Orci, and Alex Kurtzman wrote "the most amazing script," adding that he is "thrilled to get a chance to direct it."
Primaries will begin shooting next month and with the time that they have, Abrams says the movie is being shot "on film, 2-D, and then we'll do a good high-end conversion like the 'Harry Potter' movie and all that."
Abrams also talked about shooting in IMAX saying "We were talking about it and I would love to do it. IMAX is my favorite format; I'm a huge fan."
When he was asked about a potential Cloverfield sequel, he only responded with "I wish I could give you an update."
He added that "We would love to do it if there was an idea that is worth your time. We're playing with some ideas, but we haven't found the one that you go, 'That's the reason to do it."
