Circles is the most popular social network in the world: vast, ubiquitous, and constantly evolving. Days before expanding into China, Circles suffers a devastating cyberattack—and a key executive is brutally murdered.

As he fights to save the company he helped build, top engineer Sergio Mansour uncovers evidence of a massive conspiracy that turns the power of Circles against its users. But as Sergio investigates, someone is watching his every move—someone ruthless enough to brand him a criminal and set a vicious hit man on his trail.

Desperate to clear his name, Sergio turns to Malina Olson, a beautiful and headstrong doctor who has an agenda of her own. Now, he and Malina must survive long enough to expose the truth in a world without hiding places, where a single keystroke can shift the global balance of power.

In stores and digital now, Terms of Use comes from first time author, Scott Allan Morrison, who was a journalist for almost twenty years, covering politics, business, and technology in Mexico, Canada, and the United States. Morrison arrived in Silicon Valley as a reporter for the Financial Times during the darkest days of the dot-com crash. He later covered the Web 2.0 boom for Dow Jones Newswires and the Wall Street Journal. Over the course of a decade, Morrison covered most of the world’s top tech companies and chronicled many of Silicon Valley’s greatest stories, including the rise of Internet insecurity and the explosion of social media.

Larry Cohen's GOD TOLD ME TO: Catholic Guilt Meets Stylish Horror

Written by Generoso Fierro

Earlier this year my wife Lily and I got to meet director Larry Cohen between a double feature screening of his seldom seen 1984 film, Special Effects, and his uneven yet wildly entertaining 1990 thriller, Ambulance, at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. Sadly, there was only a small crowd for those Thursday night screenings at the cavernous theater on Sunset Blvd., a theater where anything less than a sellout always feels dramatically under attended.

I especially felt a bit badly about the low turnout as I have long admired Cohen’s films, an admiration that began after my friend Ron and I got our hands on a VHS copy of his 1974 newborn baby that rips up everyone classic, It’s Alive. That horror film that set our standard for “batshit crazy” which we would use for every phantasmagorical film that we saw afterwards during our teen years.

Besides ranking It’s Alive against other horror films of late 1970s and early 1980s, we also hunted down any movie that Cohen directed, with many being to our delight like Perfect Strangers in 1984 and Q in 1982.

You remember Q don’t you? That was the one with giant flying lizard that had a thing for eating New Yorkers, which as young Philadelphians who hated the Mets and their fans was more enjoyable than perhaps originally intended, but of all of the films that Cohen had directed post-It’s Alive, we really loved his 1976 film, God Told Me To, a visually stunning science fiction horror film that centered on Catholic guilt, which we had seen not too long after Scorsese’s Mean Streets, which for us had set the gold standard of dealing with our own Catholic guilt.

Written by Erin Maxwell

On January 10, David Bowie left the world as he came in: on a comet filled with glittery spiders playing flashing guitars followed by rock n’ roll goblins. He was a visionary that transcended any genre, who scoffed at any label, and who defied any tradition.

He never peaked, but always rose to the occasion.

In honor of the Thin White Duke, here is a small look back at the digital footprint he left behind on the small screen, a smattering of early television appearances throughout the years that left a last impression and helped build on the legend.

I HEARD YOU MISSED ME, I’M BAAAAAAACK!

Hello followers, friends, and fans.  It’s been a long time since I’ve RANTED  - life got in the way – but now I’m here, and hoping that this show is good!

THE PRE-GAME SHOW

I haven’t had cable for many years now because Time Warner Cable IS A MENACE and became a luxury I could no longer afford, so I’m telling you now that I probably won’t know a lot of the shows and people who will be nominated this evening because now we LIVE IN THE FUTURE, so it’s not just “The Big 3” and HBO – there’s Starz, Netflix, USA, Showtime, YouTube, Go Pro blah, blah, blah – what a world.

Anyway, the show is on NBC – (I heard that they don’t have ANY SHOWS that were nominated, which sounds crazy) and they wised up a few years back and have their own red carpet thingy –thankfully – because I can’t watch E!

It was hosted by two people I don’t know

Oh, look at that striking blon…waaaaaaaait a minute – IS THAT LADY HOO-HAA?  Zowie!  She’s come a loooooong way baby.

It’s Sylvester Stallone!  And it looks like he’s seen Mickey Rourke’s plastic surgeon…and Donald Trumps makeup Artist – yeeeeeowch!

Oh, look at that girl who’s on that NBC show that’s a ripoff of the movie Memento!  Notice I can’t remember her name at all, but I do know her character on the show is chock-a-clock with tattoos, ha!

Anyway, here she is in a really AMAZING DRESS (the skirt part)  in one of my favorite colors without a bra on, being interviewed by another NBC flunky I don’t know.

Who’s that Brunette who just walked out of Central Casting?  Wait, is that…KATY PERRY?  Great rack, bad dress, HEY KATY, BEACH BLANKET BINGO CALLED…IT WANTS ITS HAIR BACK

Okay, enough of that.

THE SHOW IS STARTING!

FOG! Remembers DAVID BOWIE

"Make the best of every moment. We’re not evolving. We’re not going anywhere."– David Bowie

Last night I went to bed earlier than usual and woke up around 2:30 am and checked my phone, discovering quite unexpectedly, that David Bowie had passed away.

I was shocked and saddened. Over the last two years, the icon released three albums and launched a Broadway show. He had been fighting cancer in secret for the last eighteen months. His output likely being his own way of giving his fans one last treat of his creative energies.

The first Bowie album I owned was Let's Dance, which I bought when I was twelve years old. I also remember buying the blue vinyl 45 of "Blue Jean" from his next album, Tonight, a year later. Even at that age I remember that Bowie stood apart from other artists. He wore suits. He had different color eyes and he often felt like he belonged in a different era.

I had yet to discover Ziggy Stardust.

At some point I came across this police photo of the then, "Thin White Duke". I'm not even sure where I saw it; this stuff was more unusual to come across before the internet.

This picture made me believe that if they ever made a really interesting Batman movie, Bowie would have to play The Joker.

He left behind some inspired films and a catalog of music that will outlive us all.

And in my dreams he always gets the last laugh.

– Stefan Blitz, editor-in-chief
