Entertainment Weekly has word from writer-producer Simon Kinberg that we'll be seeing a familiar face from X-Men First Class in Bryan Singer's X-Men Apocalypse.

Simon confirms that Aussie actress Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids, Neighbors) will indeed reprise the role of CIA agent Moria MacTaggert in the sequel. Affirming that Moira is a "a significant character in the movie". Kingberg expands on what else we should expect to see in the film.

“We ended First Class with Charles having wiped portions of her memory of her experience with the X-Men. They are, essentially, strangers to her when she meets them.”

“It’s certainly a rich relationship that we started to dig into in First Class, and would like to mine more in this one.”

“This movie is the completion of the first arcs of Charles, Eric, Raven, and Hank, who are essentially our main characters,” he explains. “They’re such young actors and young characters, so there’s a lot more story to tell. But as a first phase of their lives, there is this feeling of closure by the end of the movie.”

He also talks about the film's setting in the 1980's which has been confirmed ages back and even teases a possible cameo from Dazzler.

Writer-Producer Simon Kinberg Talks Potential 'FANTASTIC FOUR / X-MEN' Crossover

Written by Christopher M

The talk ever since Fox decided to move forward with their Fantastic Four reboot was that they would eventually crossover the characters with the X-Men franchise in some sort of super film like Avengers. EW was able to speak with the best person to know if this was happening, writer-producer Simon Kinberg responds to the crossover talk.

“The reboot of FanFour really needed to work in and of itself,” he says. “We were doing something pretty radical with the tone of the movie.” Still, the opportunity for a crossover is there. “If we wanted to find a way to connect them to the X-Men, we could,” says the writer. “There’s a lot of precedent from the comics.”

We know that X-Men/Fantastic Four producers like Hugh Jackman, Lauren Shuler Donner and Kinberg are friendly with Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige, but the studios themselves seemingly have some bad blood.

A Life Lived Through BONNE BELL Lips Smackers

By Elizabeth Weitz

You are fourteen years old

It is 1988 and the summer air is thick with the scent of ripe strawberries and wheat. The combination is heady, oppressive, and seductive. You are drunk on it. Your lips are wet, not from perspiration but from the waxy slickness of your Dr. Pepper Lip Smacker that you continuously apply. The taste of it is addictive, you keep running your tongue over it like a snake scenting the air for prey (and it’s true that you are every bit a snake looking for something to eat) and lick it off, over and over again.

There is something beautiful about the act of applying it, it can be subtle like the airiest kiss, or hard, even forceful, the way your 14 year old heart imagines passion might feel like. It tints your lips the faintest shade of red, not the fire engine red that you really want but aren’t allowed to wear, but it is the beginnings of it, an undercurrent of the adulthood you desperately desire, tasting like pop with a hint of plum (you refuse to accept that it is really the taste of prunes, that is the taste of old age and the death of your future…it is the taste of grandparents and nothing that your youth wants to imagine).

You are loyal to Dr. Pepper; your mother buys you Cotton Candy or Bubble Gum. She still thinks of you as a child and those are the flavors of innocence. Sour Grape is disgusting and makes you break out in a rash. Watermelon tastes too sweet. 7-up reminds you of sickness and fevers and chicken pox. Good N’ Plenty is just too weird.

Last winter you became daring and shoved handfuls of the Dr. Pepper flavor into your coat pockets at K-Mart, your friend acting as look out, and, months later, you are still using them, your mouth dressed up like a thief.

Twelve magical superpowers. One sinister conspiracy. One unlikely hero.

From the mastermind behind Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, The Avengers, The X-Men, and a fleet of iconic superheroes comes a brand new magical, superpowered adventure. Disney Publishing Worldwide is proud to release the first novel in a new series by Stan Lee, the visionary who helped create the Marvel Universe.

When Steven Lee, an eighth-grader living in Philadelphia, travels to Hong Kong on a class trip, the adventure that awaits him is much more educational—and dangerous—than he could have ever imagined. On a visit to a strange, vast museum where muffled screams emanate from the walls, Steven follows the trail of a peculiar tour guide, a young woman named Jasmine, into an underground cavern. What he finds there—twelve giant pools of ancient mystical energy, based on the signs of the Chinese zodiac—will bring out powers in him he didn’t know he had, and put him at the center of an epic battle to save the world.

A powerful epic that explores a fascinating mythology, THE ZODIAC: CONVERGENCE is more than just an action-packed adventure. It’s the story of an ordinary boy who finds himself in extraordinary circumstances. What makes him exceptional is not the superpower he acquires, but the humanity and bravery he has possessed all along. Readers will see themselves in Steven as he explores his own past and considers his future, just as they will thrill to uncover sides of themselves portrayed in the array of vibrant characters and personalities depicted around him in this richly drawn world.

Co-authored by writer Stuart Moore and illustrated by Andie Tong, The Zodiac Legacy: Convergence is available now.  Check out the first two chapters below in this exciting new epic tale!

Flashback: LITE-BRITE, Making Things With Light...

You see dear reader, when I was young I didn’t have access to fancy computers, or video game systems, or cellphones, or whatever it is you all watch crap on these days.

During my childhood, if your parents didn’t want to spend the bread, there was really only one way to get your bright, electrical stimulation:

Lite-Brite.

Lite-Brite has been around since before time – well, 1967 to be exact.

As many of you probably know, because it’s MORE than likely you have seen one of these when you were a rug rat, Lite-Brite was essentially a back-lit board that was covered with black paper.  You would take a transparent, colored pin, stick it into the black paper and it would create a bright image of whatever you want.  Sometimes the black paper had various images on it like a sail boat or some crap.

Evil Empire #10
Writer: Max Bemis
Artist: Victor Santos
Colorist: Juan Manuel Tumburus
Publisher: BOOM! Studios
Price: $3.99

The Evil Empire has become a reality as the concept of universal freedom and thought has united the glob as an integrated society. Absolute freedom has brought about people killing people over the smallest things or as President Sam Duggins would say, “Go hard and don’t take any bullshit.”

Celebrity rapper Reese Greenwood is the leader behind the movement to stop the Empire and to hopefully show the world that Duggins is a full of BS as his movement. Max Bemis takes things in an even darker direction as Reese’s team takes a serious hit.

The cause seems to be lost, but Reese’s resolve becomes amplified when she immerses herself into the no rules world of the Empire.

Victor Santos’ artwork has been on point throughout the entire series. It’s gritty in nature, and complex in feeling, as this seemingly approved underlying dictatorship draws emotion from several different points of view. A public smile from Duggins followed by an angry look behind closed doors has evil intentions written all over it.

Throughout this series, Max Bemis is trying to get the reader to look at some sociological what-ifs through a prism of unpredictability that makes this series standout on a consistent basis.

Score: 3.5 out of 5

A Poem For An 80s See-Through Phone

By Elizabeth Weitz

You showed up
Unexpected

In the most sacred of spaces

See through and see-thru
Your innards colored

Your wires coiled like snakes

Living in a plastic house
Where secrets traveled

Across lines

Dedicated to the verbal dissection
Of boys And clothes And love

Spoken in whispers

Under covers cleaned by mothers hands
Lit up By a light

As bright as an Atomic Bomb mushrooming into life in a Nevada desert

And as the shock wave hit
You were blown away

Into the ether of memory

Replaced by hard-cased Nokias
And left to rot in garage corners

In boxes marked Bedroom Stuff

Win Brandon Sanderson's RECKONERS Series STEELHEART and FIREFLIGHT

Brandon Sanderson is back with a vengeance in FIREFIGHT, the follow up to the #1 New York Times bestselling Steelheart. In the book that Kirkus Reviews is calling a “rare middle volume that keeps the throttle open,” Sanderson takes readers on another a thrill ride and “presents a Marvel Comics-style mix of violently destructive battles, fabulous feats and ongoing inner wrestling over morality and identity.”

David Charleston still can’t believe it. Steelheart is dead, and he died by David’s own hand. Even the Reckoners had never killed a High Epic, but the invincible has fallen and now Newcago is free. Despite attaining revenge for the murder of his father and living his dream as a team member of the most elite Reckoners cell, David finds he has more questions than ever before, and he won’t find the answers in his home city.

Babylon Restored, the city formerly known as Manhattan, could hold the key. Ruled by the mysterious and ambivalent High Epic Regalia, Babylon Restored is a place flooded with water and painted in neon, where the inhabitants spend most of their days lounging and nights partying. David can’t seem to understand the complacency of the city and its residents, but what he does understand is that being positioned here, risky as it may be, could lead him to the answers he so desperately seeks. Because there is an emptiness in him, one left behind after killing Steelheart, that was filled unexpectedly by Firefight, who is just plain Megan to him. And David will stop at nothing to find a way to understand Epics and bring her back to him. Hopefully for good this time.

The second book in the Reckoners series and follow up to the highly acclaimed Steelheart, which Publishers Weekly called “an absolute page-turner,” FIREFIGHT is filled with spine-tingling adventure and heart-racing action that promises to satisfy fans both new and old.

And we're giving away a set of both books! After the jump, read an excerpt of Firefight and learn how to enter to win.

Variety has reported that Oscar nominated actress Felicity Jones (Amazing Spider-Man 2, Like Crazy, The Theory of Everything) is now the the female lead in Gareth Edwards' untitled Star Wars film for Lucasfilm. Jones had been linked along with actresses Rooney Mara, Kate Mara and Orphan Black's Tatiana Maslany.

Rumors had suggested otherwise as it was said that Tatiana Maslany was the frontrunner, that seems to be untrue from this new trade report. The film she's working on that led to her dropping out of a play is actually a indie starring opposite Dane DeHaan.

Walt Disney Records THE LEGACY COLLECTION: FANTASIA (review)

Review by Todd Sokolove

Walt Disney Records started off 2015's Legacy Collection releases with their first four-disc set -  FANTASIA, on the 75th anniversary of its release.

Fantasia, the movie is one of the studio's most lavishly animated, if not most daring out-of-the-box produced by the Walt Disney artists.  But the music has always been a thing of controversy.

While the film was not necessarily a box-office hit upon theatrical release (cited by many as being ahead of its time), Disney was met with harsh criticism for his lowbrow attempt to bring Classical selections to a mass audience.

Most of the music selections in Fantasia are edited and arranged different than their initial composition, which alienated traditionalist music critics.  Some felt the music being "interpreted" by artists visually was also something of a disservice.

Of course, 75 years later it's regarded one of the most important films in American Cinema history, and what this new CD set celebrates, and frankly archives, is a definitive representation of the original musical backbone.

Animation Geek: Watch "FORGOT' By Stephen McNally

By Elizabeth Weitz

Forgetfulness is a symptom of getting older, moving away from events that once occurred in your life that, in the moment, seem completely unforgettable, but aren't. In time those memories fade, grow fuzzy, seem less devastating, less personal.

And then they change altogether...adding bits and pieces from other memories.

In Stephen McNally's short animation the philosophy of forgetting is played out in a languid, liquid style that is reminiscent of those memories that move like fluid in the depths of our minds.

Is it beautiful to forget?

I can't remember.

Watch it after the break.

Want to Geek Out? Why You Should Move to Atlanta

It is fair to say now that the “Geek” culture has pretty much exploded in the United States, yes? With shows like Big Bang Theory and Doctor Who idealizing all things geeky, being dorky and intellectual has quickly evolved into a cocktail for popularity; although it might take a while for the Wolowitz-style fashion to catch on…but I digress.

Anyhow, as you can probably guess, cities around the U.S. have transformed into geek-havens of sorts, featuring everything from comic conventions, geeky trivia, and tech-filled expos, and that’s not even the half of it! Naturally though, some cities have earned the reputation of being nerdier than others.

In fact, Movoto.com just named Atlanta, GA the nerdiest city in America.

Netflix has released the trailer for their upcoming Daredevil series, in collaboration with Marvel Studios, which will be released in it's entirety on April 10th.

There's not much to go on in terms of whether the series is based on any particular run (although Frank Miller's influence on the trailer is obvious), and the official press release doesn't provide any other cues:

"Marvel's Daredevil" is a live action series that follows the journey of attorney Matt Murdock, who in a tragic accident was blinded as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses. Murdock sets up practice in his old neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, New York where he now fights against injustice as a respected lawyer by day and masked vigilante at night.

The series stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Rosario Dawson, Ayelet Zurer, Bob Gunton, Toby Leonard Moore, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Scott Glenn and Vincent D'Onofrio.
