LOUIS C.K.'S Long-Forgotten Movie 'Tomorrow Night' Is Available On His Website For Only $5!

Back in 1998 Louis C.K. wrote, produced, and directed a comedy about a New York photo shop owner named Charles (Chuck Sklar) who is hated by his mailman (J.B. Smoove), dates a nympho named Lola Vagina (Heather Morgan), meets an elderly woman named Florence (Martha Greenhouse) whose husband is killed by a pack of wild dogs, marries her, finds that life is way to complicated and heads back to the safety and comfort of his store...did I mention that Charles also has a nightly ritual of sitting in a bowl of ice cream to relax? I didn't? Well, there's that...oh and there are also cameos by Steve Carell, Amy Poehler and Conan O'Brien in case you're interested.

Tomorrow Night was first screened at Sundance back before Y2K but never released to the public (I guess we weren't ready for it yet) but sixteen years later Louis is making the film available on his website (LouisCK.net) for only $5...starting at noon EST.

Judging by how successful his Live at the Beacon Theater comedy special was (which was also released via his website for $5), I have no doubt that Tomorrow Night will finally make him some moolah.

A SEMI-NUDE MRS. GARRETT Explains the Awesomeness Of Oil Heat...And If You Don't Know Who That Is, Get Off My Lawn Kids

I always knew that Mrs. Garrett (Charlotte Rae) was kind of a perv but this 1960s advertisement for oil heat sort of clinches it for me. Semi-nude and not at all bothered that a strange dude popped up in her shower to ask about her preference for hot water, Mrs. Garrett alludes that she's sort of up for anything...and I mean anything...when it comes to singing the praises of extruded dinosaur goo.

Kinda makes me wish that I was a wife back in the early 60s when a woman could down a handful of Mother's Little Helpers, zone out in a shower all day and have a career shilling the wonders of oil while naked and wet.

This VALENTINE'S DAY Forgo the Flowers And Instead Give The Love of Your Life A Bouquet of Kittens

$

Giving someone flowers is a wonderful gesture, I mean, sure they will wilt and die (kinda like your relationship) but they're pretty and smell good and stuff. But perhaps this Valentine's Day instead of forking over a small fortune on roses, you could spend the money on something that will not only last for years, but also make that special person feel like you truly understand them (and their Internet addiction)...a bouquet of kittehs.

That's right, a bouquet of nine adorably plush kittens all attached to a stick (they can be removed)!

What better way to say "Right Now I Like You A Lot...We'll See How The Rest of the Year Goes" then through the presentation of stuffed animals?

Not only will you get lucky, you'll also find yourself earning points from said significant other's friends which you will probably end up boinking later on...and you thought Valentine's Day was just a made up holiday created through the dark allegiance between the FTD, Hershey's and Hallmark corporations.

Now that someone has an iPad, that someone (OK, its me!) is reading comics whenever, wherever and however he can! This Triple Shot takes us to more than one battlefield with Vito Delsante’s World War Mob and also to the Anglo-Zulu War in Guido Vrolix’ The Soldier. Don’t worry, we have aliens and huge axes wielded by a strong female hero in Valhalla Cindermane.

All of these books are submitted to the ComiXology platform via the creator-owned ComiXology Submit program, where independent creators can be discovered alongside the virtual shelves with mainstream books!

Issue #1 of Vito Delsante’s World War Mob hits the ComiXology store today. A quick review of the book in the platform’s new browser-friendly HTML 5 Beta reminds us what a great story we have here.

For fans of Band of Brothers and Goodfellas, this World War II story brings us from the collection rounds of gangsters on the Lower East Side to the front lines to the Battle of the Ardennes.

Capt. Vinny DiGreco is offered a secret mission while on leave in Sicily.

The circle of life as it where, even the Army owes Lucky Luciano a favor, so Vinny accepts a top secret mission, that will have affects on the outcome of the war!

Vito shared that no one in comics has touched on wiseguys joining the draft before, and we hope the concept catches on. Issue #1 is off to a great start, full of action, Nazi punching and also street level crime stuff happening in New York.

Giancarlo’s art is great as well, he colors himself in watercolor washes. His line work reminiscent of great Sgt. Rock work by Joe Kubert. The realist illustration really helps set the tone and time setting.

World War Mob takes comics back to classic storytelling, combining rather than mashing up genres to give the reader a one of a kind experience. This world can be built on in many different directions, and our hero in the first issue is one we can root for both as patriotic Americans and fans of organized crime stories.

The Moral Obligation to Moralize Pop Culture

$

I recently got into an argument with a friend about if The Wolf of Wall Street glamorized the life and times of Jordan Belfort.

Of course many people have been having this debate, and my friend touched on the common talking points: not only were the consequences of Belfort’s criminal actions never shown, but there even seemed to be upsides to Belfort’s drug use, such as when getting high allowed him to save someone’s life.

Putting aside this particular film, the real issue is what kind of responsibility do filmmakers have to clarify right and wrong for their audience when making a movie about an antihero.

As I see it, as long as the crimes and immoral behavior are not being advocated for, then the filmmakers are off the hook. Whatever conclusions the audience comes to says more about themselves than the movie.

Favorite Animal Couples in Film and TV History Plus, Win 'FREEBIRDS' on Blu-ray!

$

Well, it’s that time of year again. The time we celebrate love and all of the magical feelings that come along with it. Owen Wilson and Amy Poehler star as Reggie and Jenny in Fox Home Entertainment’s animated motion picture, Free Birds. Although Reggie is a time-traveling turkey who is focused on taking his kind off of the Thanksgiving menu, he can’t help but take some time to get to know the lovely Jenny. Their romance blossoms and she gives Reggie added motivation he needs to accomplish his mission.

To help you get into the mood for romance this Valentine’s Day, our friends at 20th Century Fox have compiled a list of the top animated animal couples in film and TV history!

Mickey and Minnie Mouse

Regarded as the “Brad and Angelina” of animated animal couples, Mickey and Minnie have been together since 1928, when they first appeared in the animated short film “Steamboat Willie.” This power couple has managed to survive the ups and downs that come with such a long relationship - including the shift to color, and the invention of computer animation.

Donkey and Dragon

This couple may be the oddest pairing on our list. Even in the cartoon world, it’s not expected that you would find a loud-mouthed donkey, and a fire-breathing dragon, in love. However, that’s just what you get in Shrek. It’s a good thing Donkey is such a sweet-talker, as he had to talk his way out of getting eaten by Dragon the first time they met.

Simba and Nala

Once childhood friends, Simba and Nala were separated by the events that led to the death of Simba’s father, Mufasa in The Lion King. They are reunited when Nala tries to attack Simba’s jungle companion, Pumba the wild boar. Upon realizing they are in fact friends, the flames of young love are rekindled. They eventually go on to take back the empire that was rightfully theirs, and Simba restores his place as king of the jungle.

Bugs and Lola

Bugs Bunny was known as one of the most eligible bachelors in the cartoon world for much of his career. That is, until he met Lola in 1996’s Space Jam. With Michael Jordan as his wingman, Bugs was able to win Lola’s heart, all while helping the Toon Squad defeat the Monsters in the ultimate game of basketball - one that would decide the fate of the universe.

Lady and  Tramp

These young pups from the opposite sides of the tracks are responsible for one of the most iconic love scenes in all of film history. Their spaghetti kiss from Lady & The Tramp is the most widely recognizable kisses of the 20th century. However, the kiss was only the beginning of their romance, as they went on to have four puppies together. I guess you could say it was more than just puppy love!

Melman and Gloria

Melman & Gloria’s love story in Madagascar is one of determination. After Gloria confessed her attraction to Alex, Melman is forced to leap into action to try and win over his childhood crush. His efforts eventually pay off as he wins her love and affection. They will likely go down as the most famous Giraffe-Hippopotamus couple in film history.

After the jump find out how to win Freebirds on Blu-ray!

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS DOCUMENTARY 'The Great Kingdom' Gets A Trailer...and Rolls a Natural 20

The story of how Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson created Dungeons and Dragons would be interesting enough to watch (if you are a fan of the tabletop game) but the level of betrayals, in-fighting and loss that these guys had to deal with makes for a truly epic story worthy of being played in a basement.

And if the trailer for The Great Kingdom is any indication of what we will be getting when the documentary is released (whenever that is, check out the Facebook page for information), well count me in.

I'll be the one with the velvet Crown Royal bag filled with multi-sided die standing in the corner.

HOLY PATRIOTISM BATMAN! Adam West Shills US Bonds To Help Support the Vietnam War

It may seem weird at first to see the Caped Crusader asking kids to buy Government bonds so that the US can help fund a war, but that's what people did (and did happily) back before the public realized that the whole war thing was kind of a bad deal (and ironically it all really started with 'Nam).

So many thanks has to go to the US National Archives for keeping pop culture history alive and preserved so fans of The Batman who were/are too young to see how he evolved over the decades can get a glimpse of where America was emotionally before the distrust of the government really settled in.

Besides, it wasn't as if DC was secretly dodging the overt patriotism anyway:

After the break you can check out Adam West doing his duty for country, back when that meant donning some tights and telling school-aged children to fork over their allowance for the US military.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF MUSIC SAMPLING

If you are a music junky like me, it's always interesting to hear/learn where certain beats and song hooks are sampled from, and to be honest, it's sort of amazing just how many great songs can be linked back to only a few originals (I mean, for christ sake, The Winstons' Amen Brother literally has thousands of samples used from it).

And this very brief history of samples (from Eclectic Method) not only tackles the evolution of sampling from "the Beatles’ use of the Mellotron in the 60s to the sample dense hiphop and dance music of the 80s and 90s [Vimeo]" it also showcases various songs that used those original beats to make their own better.

So get your dancing shoes on and check out the video after the break...and yes, your ass cheeks will be moving.

Why Your Crowdfunding Campaign Failed (And Other Good News)

The two inevitables of life, death and taxes, have recently invited a third member to their exclusive club for jerks.

The old adage, in the teenage years of the 2000's, should now read "death, taxes, and Kickstarter" (or Rockethub, or countless other options).

Congratulations, you're an artist, just like a huge percentage of the population!

The difference between you and those other losers?

YOU are an artist with a killer idea. You're gonna make the next Star Wars, or write the next 100 Bullets, or maybe you've got this idea for a blender that blends the shit out of stuff but also somehow reduces your carbon footprint and makes you way more attractive.

But, now for the elephant in the room: you need money, and lots of it.

Well, kiddo, you were born in a glorious time; a time where you can ask the interwebs for assistance, a magical land where you can digitally panhandle but not dress or smell like one.

That, my friends (or acquaintances, if you will), is crowdsource funding.  I'm going to go on a limb and assume that since you're reading this you're either familiar with the concept, inquisitive about the concept, or it's just a really slow day on Reddit.

So you've grasped crowdsourcing.

Hell, maybe you've tried, and like thousands of others, failed.

Miserably. Horribly. Embarrassingly.

So why, exactly, did it fail?

If you're part of the 56.04% of people who fail to meet their end goal (per Kickstarter), I've got some news for you -- here are the reasons it bombed.

For The Love Of Games

$

When the PS4 launched late last year, TV critic and avid gamer Charlie Brooker was interviewed for Channel 4 by Jon Snow about games.

It turned out, Snow had no idea about games and very little tolerance for them, claiming them to be violent and childish. Cue numerous jokes and memes about Jon Snow knowing nothing a la Game Of Thrones...

Obvious joke aside, it was a rather difficult interview to watch as Snow refused to listen to any of the points Brooker made in defence of video games - not that he had much chance to answer, Snow repeatedly bulldozed the conversation leaving Brooker seemingly in shock - and the whole debacle highlighted the huge gap between old and new media.

I thoroughly recommend watching it and if you can manage to get through it without cringing or getting angry then you are a better person than me - well done!

If you don't want to watch the video, one of the many ill-informed statements was:
You know why none of them (gamers) would get married, don't you? It's because there are no women - Jon Snow, Channel 4 News.
Why am I bringing this up?

Well countless films and TV shows tell us that geeks (and subsequently, gamers) are awful at beginning and maintaining relationships and the media seems obsessed with the obscure notion that video games are violent and exist solely for lonely individuals to kill one another repeatedly. These absurd ideas are simply not true.

I would like to put it to you, esteemed ladies and gentleman of the Internet that every game is in some way about love.

A bold statement, I know, but let me explain.

And you thought Jack ‘King’ Kirby could get weird!

Imagine the apartment or house you lived in came with a ‘Green Light Certificate’, after the regular inspectors do their thing, the folks at Red Light Properties come in and do a clean sweep to make sure poltergeists are not hanging around (quite literally in chapter one, double hanging suicide).

We’ve had some time with this 200 page remastered and recolored Red Light Properties— it had it’s first life as a webcomic — and on February 5th, IDW’s paperback version hits the stands.

THAT AWKWARD MOMENT (review)

Review by Caitlyn Thompson
Produced by Justin Nappi, Andrew O'Connor,
Scott Aversano, Kevin Turen, Zac Efron
Written and Directed by Tom Gormican
Starring Zac Efron, Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan,
Imogen Poots, Mackenzie Davis, Jessica Lucas

That Awkward Moment follows three guys as they deal with what may or may not be real relationships.

Jason (Zac Efron) and Daniel (Miles Tellier) enjoy rotating through their ever changing roster of women whose time expires once they ask "so...where is this going?" Mikey (Michael B. Jordan) struggles with his sudden divorce and can't seem to get over how his perfect relationship failed if all of his "required boxes were checked." The guys vow to stay far away from commitment but of course this pact is broken quickly.

This movie is a date flick that’s not totally for girls. The guys make a bunch of repetitive poop and penis jokes and relentlessly bust balls. They’re over-exaggerated dudes – and I liked them.

The movie is easy to watch and outwardly has no depth. We get a surface layer of everything: the personalities, the friendships, the sex, a teensy bit of family, nothing more.

This doesn’t classify a film as awful. It’s adequate for what it is. No it’s not an Oscar contender, but I think that’s why I liked it. It’s brainless and silly and has zero intensity.

As someone who has been able to mask her general ignorance of the world through the spewing of random facts learned from Bar-Night trivia competitions, I have to say that the Mental Floss videos on YouTube have help contribute to my continued ruse that I am an intelligent human being and worthy of being part of conversations I know nothing about.

And this video, which throws out more state-based facts than one possibly needs, is not only worthy of your time, it will help keep those lulls in your workplace conversations at a minimum (and let's be honest, who doesn't enjoy hearing which state has world's largest spoon collection).

So if you're like me and want to feel smart without putting in the work to make yourself so, then watch 50 More Fun Facts About the 50 States after the break...I'm not saying it'll fool anyone into believing that you're a brainiac but it will probably stop people from thinking that you're a barely functioning moron.
