KIEFER SUTHERLAND Gives Details About 24 Movie

Kiefer Sutherland knows what's happening in the 24 movie, and he feels like telling all of us just a bit about it.

In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Jack Bauer himself talked about what's planned for the film based on his hit show. While he was mostly there to promote his new show Touch (which I recommend you take a look at), he did leak some news that just may shock longtime fans of the series. Get ready fans.

It's not going to be in realtime and follow the minute-by-minute format that the show was known for. Sutherland said it's a great break explaining that "The two-hour film will be a representation of a 24-hour day, which gives us -- all of a sudden Jack Bauer can get on a plane and you don't have to sit with him for the whole ride."

Continuing on he also mentioned that Jack may start swearing now that he doesn't have to deal the the pesky FCC. Don't expect a hard R on the rating, he'll probably only swear once. As Sutherland said "it's certainly 100 percent more than he ever got to do before."

Watch the interview if that tickles your fancy.

Paula Malcomson from shows like Deadwood and Caprica will be the female lead in Ray Donovan.

Deadline reports that the actress will join Liev Schreiber in the Showtime drama. The show was created by Southland creator Ann Biderman and will be directed by Allen Coulter. Mark Gordon and Bryan Zuriff are attached to executive produce.

The show is described as a "dark family drama with comedic undertones." Schreiber's character is a professional fixer and takes care of the Hollywood elites' problems. While he is good at taking care of other people's problems, he can't really solve his own difficulties at home. Malcomson will play his wife Abby who is a Boston girl having trouble moving to Hollywood.

Founder of Wikileaks Julian Assange will soon have his very own talk show on Russian TV.

Variety reports that the currently-under-house-arrest Assange will have a show on the English-language state-funded RT network. The half-hour episodes will start airing weekly in mid-March.

The show will feature Assange along with "iconoclasts, visionaries and power insiders." Details for the style or focus of the show are still under wraps.

"Through this series I will explore the possibilities for our future in conversations with those who are shaping it. Are we heading towards utopia or dystopia? And how can we set our paths?"

Assange has been under house arrest for the past year waiting for a court decision. Talking about the show he said, "This is an exciting opportunity to discuss the vision of my guests in a new style of show that examines their philosophies and struggles in a deeper and clearer way than has been done before."

RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan sent out a tweet on Wednesday, saying: "Assange to record TV series for RT while under house arrest -- I am sure it will be an amazing show! I've never waited for a show on RT with such excitement."

Dwight Schrute May Have His Own Show Soon

It's time for more Office spin-off news. Dwight Schrute, normally known as Rainn Wilson, could be getting his own show in 2013.

According to Deadline, a potential midseason pilot is in the works. Wilson has been working with producer/showrunner Paul Lieberstein on the new project which would see the character in a non Office setting.

The new show would take place on the Schrute family beet farm and bed & breakfast. The Office will use an episode of the series to introduce the spinoff. The center of the show is showing a family farm and the family trying to stay together through their rather comedic difficulties.

An Office spinoff has been attempted before in 2007, but that project ultimately was refocused into creating Parks & Recreation with Amy Poehler. The idea for the show has been in the works for a while, “Paul and Rainn have been joking for years about Dwight’s life on the farm, his family and how ill-suited he is to run a B&B.”

If The Office is picked up for a ninth season, Wilson will likely return to his role as Dwight until the midseason when he would break off to do the new show. Dwight has been looking at other options to Scranton in the most recent season. In one episode he interviewed with Robert California in Tallahassee.

Comedian and actor Russell Brand is set to star in the upcoming Michael Bay produced Hauntrepreneur.

Variety reports that Brand will play a strange man in a new town. He calls himself the Hauntrepreneur and he creates a haunted house "filled with an odd cast of characters." No casting has been talked about yet.

The film is being produced by Platinum Dunes, the studio most recently responsibly for the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. The spec script was picked up in October by Scott Rosenberg and the studio will soon start looking for a director.

Brand will soon be seen in Rock of Ages and is also working on a talk show at FX and an unnamed animated project. Soon he starts production on an untitled Diablo Cody film.

STEVEN SPIELBERG May Direct Moses Epic GODS & KINGS

Steven Spielberg has already been looked at to direct the Moses epic Gods and Kings, but now he is in the final negotiations with the studio.

According to Deadline, Spielberg is close to signing on to the project, but it would take some time to actually get made. The director has just wrapped Lincoln and is about to start work on Robopocalypse. He still might be able to do the film in 2013.

There are very few details about the project at the moment. The script from Stuart Hazeldine and Michael Green is said to include the entire life of Moses from birth to death and will be a gritty true reality story that would tell "a real warrior story."

At this point it's being stressed that there is no intention to film in 3D. The studio wants a more Saving Private Ryan looking film rather than a remake of The 10 Commandments.

THE GREY — Overwolfed Suspense Thriller Still Delivers

A plane crash, injured men, a blustery storm, a ticking clock, and big wolves.

This film had everything I enjoy in a movie.

To be honest, I often wish these elements were in every movie including The Artist but that’s just stubborn selfishness on my part.

Nevertheless, The Grey left me partially blue because—once again—someone felt compelled to use up the entire special effects budget.

After a plane crashes in the remote Alaskan back country, Ottway (Liam Neeson) takes charge of six oil rig workers.

Injured and exposed to brutal elements, the survivors must escape south to survive the weather. But they quickly find themselves hunted by a pack of wolves that turn out to be dangerous in an odd, disturbing way.

Until the wolves arrived, director Joe Carnahan had done a good job of setting the stage. His script, co-written with Ian Mackenzie Jeffers, plunges us into the world of the story and prepares us to see the characters overcome obstacles and grow beards.

But then the wolves attack and one of them can shoot rays from its eyes. Ottway cries out, “Careful, that wolf is very different!,” but it’s too late as rays strike one of Ottway’s men, causing him to explode like the Death Star.

I’m thinking maybe the producers forced this on Carnahan in post-production because we’re never given any explanation. There is some dialogue—probably ADR—thrown in where Ottway and the survivors ponder why they have a ray-shooting wolf on their hands. They come to no conclusion, the scene ending with Ottway saying, “Except for that funny business with the eyes, it's mostly a wolf and can be killed using various items.”

There are other scenes where Ottway thinks of his wife and how much he misses her.

But I could never really settle in. No matter how beautiful the scenery (cinematography by Mansanobu Takayanagi) or how well the sound was re-recorded and mixed (Andy Koyama), I kept wondering if this eerie wolf had something to do with the X-Men. Then I thought about buying luncheon meat and how much I hate finding a parking spot close to the store. Whatever the case, I wondered a lot.

Other than that, the movie was pretty good.

Four stars for clever product placement of Three Wolf Moon tee shirts.

HANGOVER 3 Stars Looking At Big Pay Raise

If a third Hangover is going to get made the studio is going to have to start looking at giving the three stars some big money.

THR reports that Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, and Ed Helms are asking for $15 million each if they are to reprise their roles in a third film in the franchise. The trio is working together to pressure the studio for the raise.

The original movie was made for a total of about $35 million and the stars each made under a million for their roles then. The sequel saw their salaries jumping to $5 million each with back-end compensation.

While the first two films followed a rather formulaic style, WB is hoping that the next movie will be different. It is supposed to shoot this summer and is based in Los Angeles if all things go according to plan.

The 2009 original grossed almost $500 million and the sequel made around $600 million worldwide. Right now it looks as though the actors will get what they want. WB is needing a big money maker now that Harry Potter and Dark Night are ending and Akira and Arthur & Lancelot have been delayed.

Smallville: Random, Awesome and WTF?! - S3E08: Shattered

$

Nothing is as it seems as Lex starts to unravel, plagued by the memories of his dead infant brother and the machinations of Lionel.

I’m going to bet this turns out pretty jacked up for Lex before it’s all said and done.

The Random:
1. I wonder how much Lex has spent on window and façade repair from the plethora of gunfire that blazes through the mansion fairly regularly.

2. Lex offers Clark the old with me or against me riff. Clark almost chooses “against me,” until he realizes Lex didn’t mean that in a sexual way.

3. So in less than three seasons, Lana’s been nearly killed by more than half a dozen crazy people, a plant, a tornado, and now a horse. How many hints have to be dropped before she gets that no one likes her?

She’s GOTTA get it by now, right? RIGHT?!

The Awesome:
1. The way Lex’s breaks with reality (or are they?) are handled is flat out fantastic (or aren’t they?), and this conspiracy keeps getting deeper (or does it?). I’m still typing, huh? Or am I? Wait. Shit, I just confused myself.

2. You have to appreciate the way Lionel waltzes in and plants all these seeds of doubt about Lex like a modern day Iago. Yeah, that’s right. I just went all Shakespeare on you.

3. The final clip of Lex in near catatonia beneath Johnny Cash’s rendition of Nine Inch Nail’s Hurt is hauntingly eerie and reminds us of just how much of a villain Lionel truly is. Well done.

Quite possible THE best scene of Season Three.

The WTF?!:
1. As if we needed any reminders of just how inane a plot Face/Off had, Smallville couldn’t land Rutger Hauer to reprise his role as Morgan Edge so they just got someone totally different and played the “he had some really good surgery” angle.

2. OK, Clark. Here’s a tip, free of charge. When you find your friend cradling and singing to a wrapped up blanket he thinks is his dead baby brother, you get the hell out of Dodge. Savvy?

3. So, first Lana acts all offended that Clark didn’t clue her in on Lex’s condition, and then essentially blames him for the horse breaking her leg. Lex is on his way to the loony bin, but, yes, Lana, it’s still all about you, sweetie.

“I know I’m a different height, size, shape, eye color, and everything
else, but I had REALLY good surgeons.”

LOST's Evangeline Lilly Discusses Her Role In THE HOBBIT

$

Evangeline Lilly (LOST) sat down with EW to discuss REAL STEEL, letting loose quite a bit of information about her character in Peter Jackson's two HOBBIT films, including how big a role her new character Tauriel will have in the films.

EW started by asking about Tauriel, the Mirkwood elf, specifically whether or not she is a warrior involved in sword play and archery:

"Yes, she is a warrior. She’s actually the head of the Elven guard. She’s the big shot in the army. So she knows how to wield any weapon, but the primary weapons that she uses are a bow and arrow and two daggers. And she’s lethal and deadly. You definitely wouldn’t want to be caught in a dark alley next to Tauriel."

Lilly had a lot more to say about THE HOBBIT than that, and it's all after the jump!

EW followed up by asking if Tauriel is involved in capturing the dwarfs:

"I think basically what you’re asking is if she’s in the film very much. She’s not in the first film very much. She comes into the first film near the end, and has a very small part to play. Her role in the second film is much more involved. Although, I have to say, when I first read the scripts and took the job, she had a lot less going on in the second film. I think the role is becoming a bit more demanding than I had expected it to be. There’s a lot more for me to do now, which is a lot of fun, but it’s a little more pressure."
Lilly on whether or not her characters is part of the Battle of Five Armies:

Oh, I don’t know. We haven’t shot that yet. I still have to go back for five more months of filming.

You don't know yet? I thought you read the script! Very coy, Ms. Lilly, very coy indeed.

Year of the T-Virus

$

0
The following may appear to be just a simple rundown of upcoming titles however the Resident Evil series is one that I hold dear to my heart and much like my love of Final Fantasy or Zelda I've been burned in the past by it.

Between groundbreaking titles, mediocre releases and complete misfires (not to mention awful films) I go through a series of erratic emotions when any new title is announced.

Capcom are certainly giving Resident Evil fans a great deal of attention this year, (so you can imagine I'm having a heart attack right now) as they are releasing not one or two... but three new unique titles.

First off there’s the 3DS title Resident Evil: Revelations due for release in February and for Xbox 360 and PS3 owners there’s Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City to look forward to in March.

If that’s not enough to sate your craving for survival horror there’s the greatly anticipated Resident Evil 6 this November!

Last week saw the first full trailer going live for Resi 6 and it’s certainly got my attention (friends, take note - it’s released two days before my birthday! *hint*)

From the looks of it, the game seems to be set in various worldwide locations with a mix of fast paced action and classic survival horror elements that are synonymous with the series. I can’t quite tell from the trailer whether it’s purely in the cut scenes but it looked as though Capcom may be borrowing a duck and cover Gears of War style fighting system. What can be said from the trailer is that part of the game is set in China and I hope the area is as expansive as it looks in the video. Games like Arkham City have shown that a well designed playable area of that scope and size is possible.

Of course, being a fan of the series I’m excited for what is to come but there are a few things I’d like to see fixed. Hopefully the sixth instalment will allow players to simultaneously run whilst shooting. Games that insist on stationary combat only tend to stall the gameplay immensely - though in all fairness it does add to the tension and atmosphere of the game so I can understand why Capcom made that decision in past titles. That said, not being able to run and shoot has never been my biggest in-game irritation with the Resident Evil franchise. That prestigious title goes to... the inability to control camera angles! Inability to control a camera infuriates me and there’s really no excuse for it in this day-and-age. I understand that it’s part of the games unnerving overall atmosphere but when you want to collect small shiny things but are hindered by a jaunty camera angle you start to lose patience, believe me.

There are several characters to play as from the start of the game, each with their own story that intertwines with the others but ultimately this means there are multiple playable campaigns – two will be following Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy but one of these will see Capcom introducing a brand new character for the series. I’ll also miss the righteous, power hungry Albert Wesker in this sequel because he was always my favourite character. However, Resi 6 does include Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy possibly working side by side. Not to mention the possibility of six player online co-op! (Xbox.com has published this information on their product listing for the game so it’s not a rumour!)

Operation Raccoon City is set between Resident Evils 2 and 3 and there are six agents to play as each with unique special abilities – albeit with ridiculous names like Four Eyes (seriously). These have been announced as the ability to program the infected, a sharpshooter, a medic, an explosives expert, an agent trained in heavy assault and an agent trained in cloaking devices and recon. As well as playing with three other players, the socially inept have the option to play with three AI teammates... Um, Left 4 Dead anyone?! I’m not saying that’s a bad thing because I absolutely adore the L4D series.

Something that intrigues me however, is that the playable agents in the game all work for the Umbrella Corporation. This new perspective will hopefully add some freshness to the game as Capcom have introduced what they have branded Three Corner Conflict. This means you’re fighting against the infected (who can actually infect you) and the S.T.A.R.S team (who can kick your arse) as well. Playing from this side of the story will be interesting but some die-hard fans might not agree that having Leon Kennedy on your clean up list counts as fun. I love the idea though, playing as the bad guy is always fun! Plus, I’ll be that little bit closer to Albert Wesker *swoon* (judge me all you want... but a girl’s got to have her Lara Croft moment too!)

Still, until Resi 6 is released in November, it should certainly satisfy my appetite for evil of the resident variety. Seeing as the release is a long way off very little is known about the game and much of the information about it is mere speculation. As such, I have decided to speculate that the main character will turn out to be Barry Burton and he is actually arranging a surprise birthday party for Jill... but anyway.

Resident Evil: Revelations isn’t a title I’ll play. Mainly because I don’t play handhelds anymore and 3D is dumb. Like most handheld release of a major series, the story seems to be an add-on, making it the equivalent of mediocre downloadable content. Sure, it might fill in the gaps between Resi 4 and 5 but is it really necessary?

I can’t see the handheld medium being particular good for the survival horror genre although it’s possible the 3D element might work. Maybe I’m wrong but unless I buy a Nintendo 3DS - which I won’t - I’ll never know.

Perhaps I should take back what I said in my last post about 2012 being Year of the Dragon... obviously I was wrong. Three new games and the next film installment makes this Year of the T-Virus.

Ron Howard Updates Us On The New ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT

$

Ron Howard may be known for his acting career and his more recent directing gigs, but to me, he'll always be the narrator from ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT.

Ron Howard also produced the first three seasons of the series, and will continue producing duties on the new ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT mini-series and movie which were announced last year.

Find out what Howard had to say to Collider about the new series after the break!

Howard told Collider:
"There’s not a specific start date, but Mitch Hurwitz is definitely working to quickly get it all underway. I don’t want to burden him with any release dates, but I know he’s well underway and it’s something he’s been thinking about a lot, over the previous year. It’s a huge challenge ‘cause we’re talking about 10 episodes, or almost character studies, individually featuring various characters from the Bluth family and showing where they are now and updating audiences, as we build to what we eventually expect and hope will be a movie. So, we need to re-acclimate everybody, and I think he’s got some hilarious idea about where these characters are in the world now, four or five years later, what they’ve been up to, what their frame of mind is now, and how they relate to each other. It’s pretty hilarious, outrageous stuff. Mitch is really enjoying delving back into the Bluth family."

I've loved a lot of TV and movies in my short life, from RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK to DRIVE, SEINFELD to BREAKING BAD, but I've never loved any piece of media more than ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT. It is literally, my favorite thing in the entire world (though I also enjoy PARKS & REC...).

Howard's quote suggests the new ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT is on the right track, but, just to be safe...

DON'T FUCK THIS UP HOWARD AND HURWITZ! I can take a sub-par sequel to RAIDERS, but I don't think I can bare poorly made ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT.
