By Steve Ahlquist
After last episode's anther disappointing non-rescue of Joey Jr. (Kyle Catlett) from the farmhouse, this episode finds Emma (Valorie Curry) and Joey Jr. hiding out in an old garage run by Bo (Jacinto Riddick), a scary looking dude with a snake tattoo.  Joey Jr. discovers a girl, Dana (Audrey Esparza), locked in a cage in the back of the garage, and this makes Bo really angry.

He explains to Emma (though he calls her Nina) that he's not a part of the Joe Carroll fan club.

Later it is explained that Bo is one of the people the cult members find "useful" for some tasks, but they aren't part of the overall scheme.

MOVE OVER RUBBER HORSE AND CHICKEN MASK, The Unicorn Wig Is About To Kick Your Costume Ass

This is going to be a huge year for unicorns, judging by how often the recipe for unicorn poop cookies shows up in my inbox (please, you have to seriously stop sending me this).

So, if you happen to be a follower of the horned beast not related to Satan, then might I recommend getting a head start on all those "Unicorn-in-a-Business-Suit" photos that will surely start appearing on the internet (personally, I'm waiting for a unicorn Harlem Shake so that the fad can die a justified death) by investing in a luscious wig that comes complete with a horn and ears by etsy seller GimmCat .

It's hump day, new television is pretty much not happening (hell, most of the mid-season shows have already been cancelled).

What to do? Well, if you are stuck at your computer trying to look busy, there are worse ways to kill the rest of the week than kicking back and reading Alan Dean Foster's collection of novelizations for the movies Alien, Aliens, and Alien 3.

Indulge yourself after the jump.

MAKE SOME BAD-ASS "Oz: The Great and Powerful"-Worthy Shoes...James Franco Would Want You To

I don't know about you but I am super excited and ready to be disappointed by Sam Rami's Oz: The Great And Power when it comes out this Friday. And to get myself ready for the date night premiere with my hubby, I'm planning on constructing a little ode to the famous red shoes of the original movie, courtesy of glitter queen and craftser extraordinaire, Kathy Cano-Murillo...Warning: She will have every inch of you and your home covered in glitter.

Now, I know for some of you, the idea of crafting can be pretty intimidating, considering how the world of craft (which once meant doing simple things like gluing something to something else) has recently become interchangeable with the word "Artisanal" (meaning: creating fucking precious works of art that would normally be mocked, but are now infused with super-human hipster powers), but don't get yourself all worked up about being perfect, this particular craft is old school and requires just a few items that you can buy at a Michaels or Joann Fabrics (with the exception of the black or red ankle boots- you can find those cheap at a Target, Wal-Mart or a Thrift Store) and is so incredibly easy, that you will probably find yourself decorating all your shoes just for the hell of it.

Interview conducted by Lauren Berkley

For those of us in the States, the third season of Syfy's Being Human premiered back in January.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars also just had aired its fifth season finale.

What do supernatural creatures and the Jedi have in common?

Well, they both star actor Sam Witwer, who plays vampire Aiden on Being Human and voices Darth Maul and The Son in The Clone Wars.

I spoke to actor Sam via email about his love of Star Wars, voice acting, table-top gaming, and why he thinks show rivalries are dumb.

GUY CAN RING TOSS A Smoke Ring Like A Mutha F*cking Wizard...Gandalf Approves

Everyone has a "Thing" (And no, I'm not talking genitals). You know something that they can do better than anyone else. It can be as simple as making a cup of tea to something huge like creating a social media network that allows people from all over the world to post pictures of what they ate for dinner.

Whatever it is makes that person special.

And for this guy it is manipulating smoke rings onto the necks of beer bottles...and it is glorious. It only lasts for 17 seconds, but within that short time span you will witness pure, undiluted beauty my friends. And it will forever change you.

Gandalf would be proud.

Multiple plot lines all come to a head, completely shuffling the deck as we head into the last few episodes.

First, Preacher Billy (Joe Mazzello)'s sister Cassie (Lindsay Pulsipher) shows up at Ava's bar, looking for Ellen May (Abby Miller). Apparently Ellen May contacted a fellow parishioner, and Cassie is concerned.

This is of course news to Ava (Joelle Carter), who believed that Colt (Ron Eldard) had killed Ellen May on Boyd (Walton Goggins)'s orders.

Meanwhile, Marshall Tim Gutterson (Jacob Pitts) is following Colt, suspecting him in the death of an old army friend. So when Colt is sent out to talk to Cassie, Marshall Gutterson is on hand to keep her from getting killed. Boyd shows up second later, having learned from Johnny (David Meunier) that Colt can't be trusted, and before you know it, everyone knows that Ellen May is alive and that Colt has betrayed them all because he's a messed up junkie.

Sick Little Monkeys: The Unauthorized Ren & Stimpy Story (Review)

It would be easy to dismiss Thad Komorowski's book Sick Little Monkeys, after-all the subject of the book, John Kricfalusi, refused to help in any way. But Thad’s well-researched and thoughtful probe into an animated show about a demented Chihuahua named Ren and his doofus sidekick cat named Stimpy is simply a remarkable read.

Written from in-depth interviews from friends and collegues of John K (as well as his own words that have been documented all over the internet), Komorowski has been able to tell the tale of a 90s kid’s show (but was it really? Hmm…) that paved the way for animated shows that had a bit more bite and subversive humor (like South Park, Beavis and Butthead and yes, probably even Daria) in the years that followed.

And while, the book reads like a well-thought out, albeit complex, love story for the show and the creator of it, it isn’t a fanboy tome. In all fairness to John K, he is a creatively, self-destructive genius and Komorowski isn’t afraid to show Kricfalusi’s faults and insanity, starting with his amateur days under the wing of the great animator/director Ralph Bakshi (Fritz the Cat, Wizards, The Lord of the Rings (1978), American Pop) and at Filmation, to his spectacular rise and fall from grace at the height of Ren & Stimpy’s popularity on Nickelodeon (the dude was fired from his own show) and his later “Onward and Downhill” career choices.

A BOOK BURNS IN CITRUSVILLE: Man-Thing vs. the Moral Majority

I was never that into superhero comics.

As a little kid growing up in the Sixties and early Seventies, I started out reading Harvey comics like Hot Stuff and Richie Rich, or Gold Key comics like Scrooge McDuck. Just whatever random stuff caught my eye on the comic racks at the drugstore.

As I got interested in girls I read a lot of Archie (those bikini babes!) and also developed a taste for humor magazines like Mad, Cracked, and National Lampoon, but as for Marvel and DC…somehow the men-in-tights concept just didn’t do it for me.

Yet there was one Marvel comic that I loved, and which remains vividly imprinted on my memory to this day.

It was called Man-Thing.

GIALLO CINEMA: SEX AND MURDER, ITALIAN STYLE

$

In my last column, I discussed Italy's sword-and-sandal movies.  These movies yielded to Italian ("Spaghetti") Westerns by 1965.  But the Westerns yielded to giallo movies ("gialli" in plural) by 1970.  The first gialli actually appeared alongside the first Westerns, around 1964.  But it wasn't until 1970 that the subgenre really came into its own, and gialli dominated Italian cinema from 1971-1975.

Now, 40 years past their heyday, gialli still hold a broad fascination for fans.  They are sexy, scary, bloody, funny, and twisted.  Below, I'll describe the subgenre, I'll note some prominent patterns, and I'll recommend 10 standouts for your viewing pleasure.

Giallo films are basically pulp thrillers.

The word "giallo" means "yellow" in Italian, and it referred originally to the yellow covers of the pulp detective novels on which the first giallo films were based.  A typical giallo hero or heroine was a regular person who found him or herself drawn into a crime scheme or murder scheme, as in Hitchcock films like The Lady Vanishes or Strangers on a Train.

Convoluted trick endings would often reveal the murderer to be the most unlikely suspect possible; at times the murderer might be a new character who popped up in the final minutes.

One might fault gialli for lacking in logic, but not for lacking in thrills: some sex, some blood, a little humor, and lots of surprises.

Is there better way to usher in a new day than to listen to an A capella version of a video game song done by some dude who has obviously played Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time more than necessary?

Yeah, I didn't think so.

Now get out your flute and play along you big nerd.

(note to reader: the author is only kidding about the nerd part, it's just that she is married to a huge LoZ fan who, when Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess came out on the Wii, ignored her for days and she has never truly gotten over it...she feels the same way about ZombieU.

This week’s episode picks up in the Jennings’ kitchen where Phillip (Matthew Rhys) is sharing with Elizabeth (Keri Russell) the massive bomb Claudia (Margo Martindale) dropped when the two met up the night before, someone was talking – The KGB had a mole.

This week, Phillip and Elizabeth are caught up in the shockwave rippling through the KGB’s spy network – literally, as both agents are abducted by an unknown faction and taken to a secret location for hours of brutal physical and psychological torture.

Phillip after making plans to go the home of his FBI contact Martha (Alison Wright) is suddenly bagged at a pay phone, dragged into a dark van and is unmasked in a warehouse by strange agents who seem to know all about his pseudo-life and his secret KGB agent status. He’s beaten and tortured for hours but to his credit and awesome mental strength, he reveals no information.
