This Saturday, December 22nd at Brighton Music Hall, home of Boston's best local electronic dance pop bands and young talent, will host an all ages WFNX Boston Accents showcase pieced together by Music Director Michael Marotta.

The recently re-launched and re-branded WFNX is now a streaming internet radio curated by former KROQ DJ Kurt St. Thomas. Appearing will be upcoming talent Stereo Telescope, Boom Boom Crash and Dear Zim all sharing the stage with local electronic artist Casey Desmond (Sound Museum Records, featured on NBC’s The Voice).

Casey was kind enough to chat with Forces of Geek's Clay N. Ferno via email about her television appearance, her amazing fashion sense and what she’s learned from her recent experience producing videos and creating her next wave of new wave. Her new recordDéjà Vu has touchstones in 80s synth pop and has a familiar tone, but we promise you this is nothing you have heard before. Casey also provides some great advice and inspiration for young ladies looking to produce their own music and persue music as a career.

Smallville: Random, Awesome and WTF?! - S9E16: Checkmate

Amanda Waller is back and she’s got Watchtower in her sights, but the Martian Manhunter has Clark’s back.

Or does he?  What is the deal with our favorite Martian, anyway?

Better watch out, Tess.

The Wall is the quintessential badass woman.

The Random:
1. Question of the episode: who pissed in Chloe’s Corn Flakes?  Because it’s clear somebody did and she’s totally a skim milk girl.

2. J’onn uses his shapeshifting to his advantage by tricking a Checkmate agent into believing he’s Waller so he can be freed from the fire trap.  Good thinking, MM.  Better thinking, wiping everyone’s faces from Waller’s mind before bouncing.

3. If you thought Waller was going to be pissed over losing the alien blood sample and losing Green Arrow and Watchtower, wait until you see her react to a mysterious red queen just chilling on her chessboard…

I’m no Bobby Fisher, but aren’t chess pieces traditionally black and white..?

THE GLITCH: Sometimes the Horror Comes From Within...

Newtown, and The Dark Knight

I bawled my eyes out when I saw The Dark Knight Rises this summer.

Not a few tears or a sniffle, but full-on, open sobbing.

To this day, I don't really know what hit me so hard.

Yes, the final installment of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy was grim beyond grim.  The film ends with an hourlong gut punch filled with apocalyptic bombast. Armies of men 1,000 strong rumbled in the streets amid pounding music.

And my favorite hero roared off into nuclear oblivion to complete a cycle of triumph, fall, loss and redemption.

But that can't really explain why I lost it like I did.

This isn't the only film I've ever seen in which people sacrifice everything to protect what they hold dear. This isn't the only film I've seen in which characters are devastated in emotionally complex ways.

Perhaps it was the day I saw it.

Reviews of Films I Have Never Seen: LES MISERABLES – Film Honors Serial Bread Thief

The story of Jean Valjean is the story of all who steal food products then sing about it.

Whether it’s the novel by Victor Hugo, the musical by Alain Boublil, Claude-Michel Schonberg and Herbert Kretzmer, or the current Universal film directed by Tom Hooper from William Nicholson’s screenplay, the audience is under constant manipulation to like a man who filches bakery products.

Hugh Jackman is the scofflaw Frenchman Valjean, paroled from Toulon prison for his larcenous escapades.

Naturally, he breaks parole and is pursued by Inspector Javert (Russell Crowe).

Javert is so inept that the French police can afford to give him twenty years to nab a parole jumper whose original crime was pilfering cooked dough.

It’s Zod’s turn to see Clark doped up on some Red K and the two of them go on a buddy cop romp to the Fortress, which is, naturally, a fantastic idea for all involved.

Luckily, someone is thinking ahead and finds a way to stop them—remember Metallo?

Guess they figured Donna came back from 90210, why not David, too?

The Random:
1. Hey, Clark, that feeling of betrayal you’re going through right now?  That’s the real deal because Chloe and Ollie have been stockpiling Kryptonite something fierce, not Tess.  Damn, that’s gotta sting, bro, even more so when Red K makes you overreact something fierce.

2. I guess exploding trucks aren’t enough to warrant any sort of police activity.  That must be some town that something like that can wait until morning.

3. For all the talk about secrets on this show, it kind of seems everyone knows everyone else’s all the time.  How is it Checkmate doesn’t yet?  They’re not exactly careful anymore, these folks.

If Run to the Hills by Iron Maiden isn’t playing in their minds
right now, they’re dead to me.

MY TOP 5: Best Films of BUTT-NUMB-A-THON 14!

Every year at Butt Numb-a-Thon, Harry Knowles celebrates his birthday by gathering around 200 of his closest friends and a few lucky hangers-on and shows them 24 (or more) hours of movies, new and old, that he loves and wants to love.

Typically, the movies are a pretty even haul of new and vintage.

This year, though, there were just too many super-cool movies coming out to choose from. So, Harry decided to get back to the basics.

We still got found new films, but the rest were all classics.

Here are the best of the eleven films.
